She lives alone and has been with us for about 2 yrs. or so. She has been fed a new type of food, but we don't actually get around to feeding her everyday. It took a good amount of time for her to get fat if it is the food. She is lethargic and can barely walk now. We feed her a stick treat sometimes, but she doesn't always finish it. What's the deal!?

Its most likely the new food, this happened with my cat.

At first she was thin and fine but then we got a new kitten that needed kitten food, so instead of two seperate bowls that they'd get mixed up or just eat thier favorite, we just served kitten food. Either she liked it and ate a lot of it or something was is it, because she got heavier. It didn't get that out of control to were she couldn't move since she exercized with the kitten, but if you think that your hamster is obese or something is wrong, take her to the vet.
If she has a problem, they help or fix it, but she might need a certain diet or just need to excersice more. If she can't walk, like at all take her to the vet. Just like people it will get painful.
Good luck with your hamster. btw, midol is a cute name :] she didn't seem that bad to me

She's a impressive cutie, little question approximately it, yet so a procedures as dwarf hamsters pass, she is likewise very previous. Weight income would nicely be a demonstration of hormonal imbalance by using getting previous. of direction with something that concerns you, take her to the vets for a verify over, and save her as mushy and as happy as plausible.

She's a right cutie, no doubt about it, but as far as dwarf hamsters go, she is also very old. Weight gain can be a sign of hormonal imbalance due to ageing. Of course with anything that concerns you, take her to the vets for a check over, and keep her as comfortable and as happy as possible.

Either you are feeding her too much, or she is sick. Tumors can cause obesity in hamsters. An exotics vet would be better qualified to figure this out. Exotics vets often travel. Call your local Petsmart/Petco to see if they have one on staff.

watched the video--in my opinion, one or more of its legs are injured. It does not seem to be walking very well. If it does not get enough exercise due to the injury and eats normally, it gets chubby, as I saw in video.

Looks like your hamster is pregnant. If she is shaped like a pear, she's probably pregnant. If not, make sure she is drinking and exercising.

It doesn't sound like she gets enough exercise. When humans get overweight, they're always told to get more exercise. Why should hampsters be any different?

from the video it seems that she's pregnant.. but as you said she lives alone... so maybe it could be because of her age.
