Ok I have been breeding mice and ran into a problem i never had before...
I have a female mouse that delievered a littler a batch on 10/31 and tonight when I was feeding the mice I noticed that the female looked sick/ paralized. I looked for the litter and they were eattin. I am guessing the other females ate them and she tried to protect them and got hurt in the process.
I know alot of people remove the female and young when they are born but I have never had a problem with this. Why do you think the female is in such bad condition? & do yo think I should kill the female or nurse it back to health?

I took the female out of the cage into a cage by itself for now with food and water... What would you do?

I would nurse the female back to health if you can; if she was hurt defending her litter, she will probably recover. But if she has some more serious condition, she may die and this may have been why she couldn't care for her litter.
You might think twice about breeding her again.
I have bred mice, and I've never had that problem either. Usually all the mice all nest communally and even feed each other's babies.

I used to work for a lab in the part that bred the mice. We actually came across this frequently. I don't know what causes it but we usually put them down. They usually just get too dehydrated to try and save.
