Yes, hamsters can die from eating foods they shouldn't be eating.

I suggest finding your hamster immediately before times runs out. Look in every space and corner. It is also possible for a hamster to escape out from open doors and windows.

Good luck finding your hamster,
Stephen

to be blunt (and get it out of the way) if your hamster is dead and somewhere in your house you're going to know by the smell pretty soon. That said, its a very strong possibility that your ham is living the high life in your house and doing just fine. He is only the next in a long, long line of hams that would make Houdini jealous with his escape skills. Now all you need to do is find him.

First off, start by shutting all the doors to the different rooms. Put his favorite treats (raisins, yogurt drops, even a little of his food) in the room. Wait until nightfall when he's going to be active. Given time, if your ham is in the room, he's going to home in on his treats. Even if you don't see him eating them (though he may be content to just sit and eat in which case there you go) you'll know what room he's in by the missing food. Be mindful that hams love closets and he could be chewing up the carpet and leaving the beginnings of a hamster food stash behind your shoes at the moment. Once you've figured out which room he's in give it a thorough search. Under and in furniture (he might have chewed his way into the cushions - let's hope not), behind things and inside any drawers, etc (mine love to crawl under the desk and than up through the backs of the drawers). If you still haven't found him, and he doesn't come when called (sounds silly but some of my hams do come when I call them) than its time to set a trap for him. The easiest is a small trash bin with smooth sides. Prop it a bit off the floor and make a way that leads up to its lip (ruler, flat book, etc.). Put more of his favorite treat or a small dab of peanut butter at the bottom of the bin. The idea is that your little ham will run up the ruler to get to his treat, slid down the inside of the bin and not be able to climb back out. Ham's safe and everyone's ready for the world to return to normal. Good luck and God speed on finding your little escape artist!

ps - hamster attacking the mom?! That's the funniest reply I've read in a long time. Awesome little daredevil!

yeah, its pssoble your hamster coculd have died from eating plenty of bad things but......if your house is cold he could have gone into hibernation, he could have found a super good hiding place, or he could have escaped your house. a hamster can fit into some really small places. try looking in tight dark spaces for it during the day. also try setting a trap: put out his favorite food , his house, or a paper towel roll full of his favorite nesting material, stuff like that. then just wait for him to turn up. there isnt really that much you can do hamsters are naturally curious and will do whatever once they get out.
anyway, hope i helped you out. good luck!
p.s. if you dont know this already, take away anything that has a strong scent eg. candels, glade or febreeze plug ins etc. because the strong smell can kill your hamster

awww...poor hamster. yes it is possble for a hamster to die from eating things they shouldnt. Thats why they have a strict diet when you buy food. If you google it you can find the stuff they can and cant eat. I hope you find your hammy!

he may just be lost, and will pop up eventually. i had one when i was a kid and he got out all the time and it was so funny because my mom was scared to death of him and for some reason he would always climb up the curtains that were next to her bed at night and dive right into her hair every time and she would wake up screaming and jumping out of the bed. and i would have to go rescue her from the big bad hamster. i would laugh so hard at her, i couldn't hardly get back to sleep. but he was always ok.

No. There was once an episode on it in Myth Busters and the man who was once buried alive for a scan was once approximately to be overwhelmed through the soil he was once buried in and had to be taken out early due to the fact he was once going for walks out of oxygen and practically loss of life. Don't do it.

I'm not saying he's dead but make sure there is no chocolate, chips, or any junk food around. Also make sure big foods he can put in his mouth but can't swallow aren't lying around either. My guinea pig died because she choked on a peice of corn. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!!!!
