it is recommended that you clean your hamster cage weekly, with daily spot cleanings if needed.
Weekly cleaning should consist of washing the cage and letting it dry before putting the hamster back in.
You could let the little guy run around in his ball during that time or put a towel in the bathtub and put him in there (close the door if you have other pets)

I have a hamster and a mouse, in separate cages and change 2 times a week. Bedding is cheap and there is no smell this way. I think the little ones like the cage clean too.

Once a week will do it. Oh and your hamster will always choose a corner of the cage to go to the bathroom in. I suggest you change the shavings of that corner at least 3 times a week (daily prefered.). Wish you and your hamster a happy life together.

You should change the shavings at least once a week. If they do still smell, change it to twice a week.

You still need to rinse/wash out the cage. You do that once a month.

Remember: If the cage smells- you're not cleaning it enough!

Once a week. Change more often if you have more than 2 in a small cage. Always change them out if they become wet. Hamsters catch colds easily. Colds are deadly to hamsters.

You change it when it needs changing. Never leave wet bedding in the cage -- how would YOU like to have to live on soggy shavings? If the cage begins to smell, you need to clean it more often -- you need to clean it BEFORE it begins to smell.

before my hamster was litter trained, I cleaned her cage once a week. Now that she has a litter box in her cage and she uses that to urinate/deficate, I clean out the litter box a few times a week and I can clean her bedding once every two weeks.

At least once a week. More than that if they have like, diareah or something like that. Also, I'd reccommend changing it as soon as the smell starts to bother you.

I clean it out completely once a week. The pee areas every other day or so, luckily she pees in one area so it's super easy.
