Just on one aspect of this problem.......I've asked the Y!A team twice now if they could make a special category for "pest control" which would also include mice, roaches, wasps, bees, flies, etc., but so far my suggestion has been ignored.
It sickens me to have to suggest this category because I love the wild rodents as much as I love my own pet rats, but I thought at least this would take the extermination questions out and away from our pet section.
Maybe we need more pet rat lovers to band together and make this same suggestion for Y!A to listen???????
The people who rant about us keeping rats as pets are ignorant, they've led sheltered lives and are unaware of the fact that pet rats exist. These people, I might give some leeway to, if they are open-minded enough to learn something new. These are the same people who do post here asking how to get rid of rats. They see the RODENT category and gravitate towards it, unaware we talk about pets here.
There was a question asked sometime ago here on Y!A that asked, "how many legs do I have to break on my dog before it will stop running away"? I reported this as animal cruelty and I continue to report anything that resembles this kind of question, even if it was meant as a joke. IT'S NOT FUNNY IN MY BOOKS.

Mopar, you didn't answer her question well, sure it's your choice to not have animals, but if you don't want them theirs a more humane way to get rid of them. Imagine if we were the ones getting that were considered a "vermin", would you prefer being captured and set back into the wild... or if sadly if killing is the only option, would you prefer a quick and painless death. Decon and products that these animals eat causes them tremendous pain and they bleed to death from the inside.
Rodents and small animals do not know that this is our territory. Most of the time we are invading their territory and we are kicking or killing them out of their own homes.
As for people posting bad comments in our pet section, they are just sick people getting a kick out of posting evil comments in our sections. Not too long ago I saw someone post "Do you put your hamster in the microwave too?" People like this are just so disrespect full. Sadly we can only erase their comments, not get rid of them because they will re-create new accounts and make new comments.
All we can do is report these abusive messages as quick and possible so that the less people see their messages the better. Everyone should help report these users!
I love my pets too and I wish the best for all the ones out there.

People will always be ignorant and get a kick out of upsetting others. Ignore them, and know that you are WAY cool for bucking the norm and loving the little guys!
(I adore rodents! I have pet rats, hamsters, and a guinea pig! They are surprisingly sweet and affectionate pets.)

I use decon for killing WILD mice in my garage
I had domestic mice as a child and would never have thought of poisoning them
Wild versus domestic is a big difference
I'm glad you love your pets..
I chose to not have any
That is my choice
