Any kind of cardboard boxes will give her something to crawl in, hide in, and chew up. You can also give her dog biscuits to chew. Maybe hide some treats in a cardboard tube with paper stuffed in the ends so she can tear it up to make a nest and get the treats out.

I would definitely get another rat--read this page for more info: http://www.nfrs.org/company.html
And this one http://fatratcentral.com/interacting-with-rats/introducing-rats/
(And please buy two at once if you ever get rats in the future; they're happiest that way :D )
As for regular toys, there are some larger cardboard tunnels out there--we have some, but I'm not sure where they came from originally. You can include nesting boxes (kleenex boxes cut in half, or cardboard boxes). Here's a full list of toys: http://www.dapper.com.au/toys.htm

A second rat would help A LOT. Rats are social animals and need to be around other rats. Just be sure you get a girl, or else you'll have tons of babies.
You can also buy little cat toys, like foam balls and stuff. Just don't get the kinds with catnip in them. I don't know for sure, but I don't think catnip would be safe or healthy for rats.
Get small boxes (like a toothpaste box or something) and put a few snacks in it, then close it up so that your rat has to open it up to get to the snacks. You can also use a paper towel roll or toilet paper roll (empty) and just fold up the ends once you put snacks inside.
Petsmart carries pinatas for birds that have snacks inside. They're cheaper online at www.thatpetplace.com. Those are fun for rats. They can chew holes through the pinata, then eat the goodies inside. They also make pinatas with nothing in them, so that you can fill them up yourself.
Your rat might like to have a hammock in the cage. This won't be fun and exciting for her to play with, but might be a change for her.
Petsmart carries these neat edible logs and couches made for small animals like rats. My rats like sleeping in the log. Just be sure you get one that's the right size for your rat. They make a large size and a small size.
Rats love to chew, so buy her some cool pieces of wood. If you're cheap, you can give her the stick from a corn dog, or a wooden stirrer from Starbuck's (or wherever). You can also buy wooden popsicle sticks (and similar sticks) in the crafts department at Wal-Mart.
Wrap stuff up in newspaper or even wrapping paper. Your rat might have fun unwrapping it, even if it's something ordinary inside, like a peanut or a piece of wood.
You might want to give her lids from things, like coffee cans or peanut tins. (Soft lids that can be chewed up and destroyed.)

If you only have one rat, getting another rat is best. She may be lonely as well as bored. Rats are extremely loving and social and if they do not get tons of human attention then they need another rat in order to not feel lonely. I cannot think of much that will keep her occupied for long periods of time - she is very intelligent and she may eventually get bored of her toys unless you are constantly changing from one thing to another. She needs "company" to love on (just don't get a male or she will have more than enough company in a few weeks).

Anything she can climb into, climb on, make noise with, carry in her mouth or chew on.
We hang cardboard boxes for our rats-- they love them & they're easy to replace when they get soiled or chewed up They also love hammocks, chew treats (both loose & attached to the sides or ceiling of the cage), paper towels & cat toys. Nuts in their shell are a fun treat & a game @ the same time. Our hooded girl loves the plastic cap from a can of cooking spray.
The *best* plaything for your girl rat is--another girl rat.

I don't know about household objects, but I would go to a petshop and ask their advice. Getting the proper thing is the best way to happiness. Regards to your RAT!
