I recently bought two male guinea pigs from the pet store. They are definitely both males and are ready for breeding so I decided to try to breed my 6 month old female guinea pig to one of them. I put them outside in a pen at first both males and the female but every time one of the males tried to mount her she would twist around quickly and bite him and then run away. I tried putting one male alone in her cage at different times but she still would not breed. She would do the same thing, twisting around, biting the male, and then running away. Do you think there is anything wrong with her? I have tried for a little over a month right now and she refuses to breed. What is a sure way I can tell she is in heat?

I was just wondering if wet or dry- or both kinds of pet foods are on recall? I have heard just wet food from some people, but both from others. I feed my 2 dogs wet food, and my cats dry and wet food.
Also, does anyone know if Purina brands, Dad's brand, or blue seal (cat and dog krunchies)brand is on recall?
TY!

My ferret ran away a few days ago and I found him in the yard all covered in thorns. He won't let me catch him but I managed to get a photo of him so I can show someone how bad the thorns are. How do I catch him and how do I pull all the thorns out?

At present it's legal to keep ferrets except in California and Hawaii. Those States ban them. The problem is that in a mild climate, if ferrets get loose they will quickly breed out of control and destroy the native wildlife. Australia's experience with French rabbits and then with cane toads shows what problems can happen when non-native species are introduced. They can quickly become a serious pest. Ferret owners would like to see their hobby legalized. What do you think, and why?

I know it's cheaper over there to have things made, but it's now at the cost of some people's pets' lives. I'd much rather pay a little bit more for my dog food to make sure it's made here in the US. People in other countries eat dog, so why are we trusting them to make our pets' food?

I find it very frustrating that even when people are in immense pain they can't ask to be 'put down'. It would be for their own good. But then you see the very kind vets who put animals down because they know it would be best for the animal.
I want real answers please!

Looks as though we have a new pesky "bot" on here going by the name of Jessica R. This name will probably change a few times until Yahoo answers staff can get rid of the irritating little troll.

"Her" answer will be along the lines of "I have the best answer to your question, "..........(your question quoted)................" then a link to some strange, crappy and irrelevant website.

Just a warning for those who would otherwise open the attached links...

So I was just listening to channel 9 news and I heard they added new foods to the pet recall list. Did I hear right that “Pounce” was one them. I JUST bought these treats for a cat that has been coming over the house a lot. Thank goodness she didn’t come around today. Also, “Jerky Strips” for dogs… were those pet food recalled to? I do feed my dog a type of Jerky Strip treat; however, I just threw them in the trash. I just printed the list from the website, but I do not know if it is an updated version.

One more thing, does this recall only affect “wet” pet food? Or is dry food also affected. Because from the looks of it, there is practically no pet food left to chose from.

Ps I hope all of your animals are well!

My cocker spaniel had some matted fur on his belly. After his bath, when I was combing through his tangles, I got some little scissors to cut the matt out and took off the top layer of skin. It bled a little, but quit. He seems to be fine now, but I feel horrible about it and want to know if there's anything more I can do for him? Should I put neosporin on it? It's on his belly area, so I don't think a bandage would stick.

There seems to be a problem with the Pet category of Yahoo Answers. People are mistakenly asking questions that should only be asked of a vet. I can only assume people have trouble recognising an emergency. So, here are the circumstances in which you should NOT waste your time on Yahoo Answers:
-if your pet appears to be in any pain
- if your animal is vomiting/has severe diarrhoea
- if your animal refuses to eat
- if your animal is pregnant/in labour and hasn't been checked by a vet
- if you have ANY questions about new born animals

Here are questions appropriate for Yahoo Answers:
- ideas for naming pets
- interest in people's opinions
- if you need emotional support
- any general NON-MEDICAL query
If you suspect there is something wrong with your pet, please don't wait. Vets are trained to give you advice, and on here you don't know WHO is answering, so how can you trust their advice?

Our cat just threw up part of a leaf to a peace lily that we have as a house plant. I've read that they are poisonous to cats, but since he threw it up is he okay? The vets are closed today or else I'd call them!

Thanks!

Do you find it annoying when people call themselves Veterinary Technicians when they haven't gone to college or passed the VTNE?

Why or why not?

Do you agree/disagree with this statement:

A lot of people claim to be vet techs, but if you didn't go to school and haven't passed your VTNE exams you are actually considered a veterinary assistan.
