I have raised rabbits for many years, and I found out the Holland lops have better temperament. They seem to love people and don't mind being picked up. Although the Netherland Dwarfs are somewhat smaller, some can be so wild and will scratch when they are handled.
I always breed all of the rabbits on the same day. When the bunnies are starting to come out of the nestbox, the lops are waiting by the door, while the dwarfs are running around the cages like maniacs.
I separate the bunnies when they are weaned, and it is surprising how different they act, even when they are in the same cage together.

I own a Netherland Dwarf bunny, and I think he is better than a dog. He actually comes hopping to you when you call his name. He will eat just about anything, and is so cute. He barely scratches, only when scared. He doesn't like to be alone and he doesn't like to sit in his cage. He loves to cuddle and is the most sweetest thing you'll ever see. He follows me around, and loves to be held. When I scratch his head he usually ends up cuddling to my hand. He only bites when were playing, not hard though, just a little quick nibble. Doesn't hurt. Loves to run around. Personally, I think Netherlands' are the best. He doesn't bite, is calm, doesn't attack, and is very sweet.

Years ago my neighbor had a lop. Oh, it was a wonderful pet. So gentle to little kids. She would bring him out in the yard in the summer and all the neighbor kids would come running to pet the rabbit. It was darling and looked like something out of a story book.

I have a lop, and he is the sweetest pet I have ever had. And I have had some good pets in the past.

I think it depends on the individual bunny or the bloodline rather than the breed.

If you can meet your bunny in its home environment, you'll be able to get a good idea of it's personality. A friendly, curious bunny who comes right up to you is a good thing...
