I dont know of any links but i make my own dogfood. I use 500gram (1pound) of minced beef, 1 sheep or ox liver, 1cup of rice, 1 cup of pasta chopped vegetable 2 to 3cups includes peas beans celery, celery leaves pumkin sweet potato and 1 large potato diced. My dog can always find the carrot unless i shred it. add 2 stock cubes cover with water bring to the boil and simmer for about 30 minutes. Dogs of all sizes find this very palatable and most vets will agree this is a suitable meal

Dog food is really pretty easy to make. There are books out there and *tons* of links. One of my favorite is here: http://iupucbio2.iupui.edu/bml/homecooking.html
You are smart to do this will all the food recalls lately (remember the big Diamond food recall last year?). Another to do is avoid commercial foods with corn, wheat and barley as those grains are ones most likely to have problems for pets (and that goes for parts of it like gluten).

home cooking is easy, you just have to be sure you provide a balanced diet. Learning about dog nutrition is an interesting subject and you will find the more you learn, the more you want to know. Here are a few sites to start:

My mother feeds her dogs a homemade concoction of white rice and boiled chicken and broth. Then she gives them dog vitamins purchased from the vet. Simple to make and not that expensive. Must work pretty good too, her dogs are 10 and 14 years old.

If you can wait for a while, someone is planning to start a show to show people how to cook for their pets! The funny side though is people may not cook for themselves but may do so for their pets in the light of the recent pet food scare! Sounds interesting?

Go to your local meat shop and see if they have any extra parts for cheep you can buy in bulk, slow cook it in a crock pot don't add any extra stuff in it. While it is hot put it in canning jars. For dogs you can add stuff like rice, peas and carrots. For cats canned tuna is fine or any of your meats are good, but cats are strictly carnivores so just feed them meat.

How about if you look at the ingredients of commercial dog food and recreate it without all the artificial stuff and preservatives? I mean, see if for ex. it has carrots and meat and so on.
