we rescued a guinea pig today and it needs it's nails trimmed. is there any way that i can safely do this myself seeing as they are wuite long or should i just take it to the pet store where they have an experienced nail cutter? also is there anything else that i should do for this little guy? he's in good health and not really skittish.

I recently adopted a solid white Boxer. She's healthy, had all of her shots 2 days ago and is gaining weight after someone abandoned her at my house. I have one problem though. When she appeared, she had a heavy steel chain padlocked around her neck. I took the chain off and bought her a normal collar. However, she still has a gray stain around her neck from the steel chain being around her for so long. I've bathed her twice since I got her last week, and my vet told me to use diluted hydrogen peroxide to remove the stain. It didn't work, and I'd like her to look nice when she gets spayed in a few days. Anybody have any other ideas? Thanks.

If you realized that each year, in this country alone, millions of healthy, adoptable cats and dogs are killed because there are not enough homes for them all. Read the article on The Crisis of Pet Overpopulation. Too many companion animals competing for too few good homes is the most obvious consequence of uncontrolled breeding. Living creatures have become throwaway items to be cuddled when cute and abandoned when inconvenient.
You can help solve the crisis of pet overpopulation by spaying and neutering your pets. Did you know that one female dog and her offspring can give birth to 67,000 puppies. In seven years, one cat and her young can produce 420,000 kittens.

If you viewed the video at: http://www.mypetnanny.info/pd/index...

With that knowledge, would you change your mind?

A few months ago I read about some people using a herb or something in their pet's water (bunnies) to mellow them out, or make them more relaxed.
Not that I condone this, but what is it called and where do you buy it?

I've always heard that nothing is wasted on beef. It's not something I'm longing to try or will ever eat, but people seem to eat just about anything and I'm wondering why I've never hear of it.

We just got her spayed 6 days ago, and now she's just as active as she was before the operation......

How do I get her to calm down so I can hold her without her biting my clothes and tearing holes in them & blankets?

Is there something I can do so she acts more mellow?

My 8 week old pup was diagnosed yesterday with parvo. He was a pound pup and got it from there. I took him to an emergency vet clinic last night and over the night he went from being barely able to move to barking his head like a maniac to let him out of his cage. His temp also dropped from 105.7 to 103.6. I took him to my reg. vet this morning for more care and he said that my dog is wheezing and may also have pneumonia. He says this will drop my dogs odds from around 80% survival rate to 50%. I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with parvo or possibly the combo of parvo and pneumonia. I want my baby to live!!!

OK, this is not a question, but please read this. I have had animals and I consider myself knowledgeable about common diseases and how to treat them. Turns out I gave a feral cat in the neighbourhood medication that was correct for the flu she had, but it made worse another serious chronic condition she had and I didn't know about it much worse, and she is in danger of dying. I really hope she doesn't, but I also please please ask you not to do the same mistake. Any sick animal must go to the vet to be thoroughly checked, have urine and blood tests and not get treated according to internet instructions. Every animal is different and has special issues that the vet must consider, that's why they study and they are not just former pet owners!
