I recently adopted a solid white Boxer. She's healthy, had all of her shots 2 days ago and is gaining weight after someone abandoned her at my house. I have one problem though. When she appeared, she had a heavy steel chain padlocked around her neck. I took the chain off and bought her a normal collar. However, she still has a gray stain around her neck from the steel chain being around her for so long. I've bathed her twice since I got her last week, and my vet told me to use diluted hydrogen peroxide to remove the stain. It didn't work, and I'd like her to look nice when she gets spayed in a few days. Anybody have any other ideas? Thanks.

I found this answer for you and they use cornstarch. Rub it thoroughly into the coat and then brush until all the loose powder comes away. They did say you may need to repeat it.

Some groomers also use blueing. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but cornstarch sounds a little more natural...

Good luck!

I use to have an all white Pit Bull that would get all sorts of stains on himself. Lucky for me I also have many gray horses and paint horses. I found that by using a horse whitening shampoo- such as Cowboy Magic, White N Brite, or White Knight it will get out anything. The shampoo is blue when you use it and if you leave it on your dog 5 minutes before rinsing off- you'll have the most perfect looking snowball.

Hope this helps and god bless you for adopting a wonderful pet in need.

Congratulations on saving this dog (& getting her spayed)! I can only imagine what fate awaited her with someone who treated her that way - probably death in a pit bull fighting ring.

I have owned two white Boxers (from breeders who did not want to put them down due their color) - they are so cool & created more conversations everywhere we went than any other dogs I have ever owned.

I always bought shampoos especially formulated for white coats. You can also try Dawn dishsoap on just the ring & RINSE WELL. It is very drying, but works for tough 'spot cleaning' emergencies.

if that stuff didn't work, then you will have to let time take over. The stain should go away in less than a month.

You want her to look nice for surgery? Umm..ok LOL

Just leave the area alone. she will shed the stained fur eventually.
