We shovel out our kennels and use a power washer on them.
That is the concrete ones.
The grass ones are scooped every day right after the dogs are out in them.
It is a lot of work durring the winter to keep them clean. We also clean and re do all the wood chip ground cover every spring.

i work at a place that boards animals. i will tell you how we deal with it.
first off, try to water everything down with hot water and scoop up all the poop and urine ( yeah it freezes and you can scoop it up)
second off, as soon as you bring the dogs in from the cold, scoop up everything immediately and you wont have this problem.
if you want use excess amounts of water, use a product called KennelSol and it will still clean the kennels.
and if you want to prevent the freezing, there is a salt called SafePaws that is safe for dogs outside and helps with the freezing.
if snow is drifting into the kennels then shovel it out.

Yeah we have tried over and over its stuck to the ground. Its been so cold here I think when it hits it immediately freezes. My daughter was out in the yard with a putty knife and I told her not to worry about it its not going anywhere. Putty knife usually works well.

I just use a square tipped shovel..the one I use is called a 'coal shovel'..very wide and square ended. It moves everything very nicely.

buy one of those portable heaters, and put it in the kennels with an extension cord
