A few months ago I read about some people using a herb or something in their pet's water (bunnies) to mellow them out, or make them more relaxed.
Not that I condone this, but what is it called and where do you buy it?

Bach's Rescue remedy can calm animals and people. Here's a link: http://www.bachflower.com/rescue_remedy.htm. There are no side effects and it is a gentle way to help stressed or over excited animals.

Pet-Ease. I got some for my cat. It comes in soft chews in tuna flavor. It's supposed to "soothe and calm". I think they make a dog formula.

Bach spray!

It is good for humans and people. You can find it at health food stores or online. You can also ask your local pharmacist, "if they have any or where can you get some".
