My 8 week old pup was diagnosed yesterday with parvo. He was a pound pup and got it from there. I took him to an emergency vet clinic last night and over the night he went from being barely able to move to barking his head like a maniac to let him out of his cage. His temp also dropped from 105.7 to 103.6. I took him to my reg. vet this morning for more care and he said that my dog is wheezing and may also have pneumonia. He says this will drop my dogs odds from around 80% survival rate to 50%. I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with parvo or possibly the combo of parvo and pneumonia. I want my baby to live!!!

I am so sorry for you. I had this happen to me as well. It is horrible and it only gets worse. I had a ten week border collie from the pound. A week later it started with the bloody vomiting and diarrhea, then it got pneumonia. I had to take it back to the pound so they could take care of it. He was put on IV fluid and they did everything they could but he didn't make it. If your dog has these, you need to keep him hospitalized if he is to have any chance at all. If you can't afford hospitalization vets can give you IV treatments that you can do your self. I think if I was put in the situation again I would euthanize the dog. It is a horrible way for them to go.

I work at a vet's office and I see these cases all the time. He needs to stay isolated and on IV's up at the clinic. But don't just leave him there. Visit and pet him every day and talk to him. I've noticed when the owners don't visit, the dogs usually give up and die, but if the owners do visit and I give them a lot of attention, they feel they have a reason to hang on. I've worked at this office for about 7 months now, we've had over 20 parvo cases and only 3 have died. I hate to brag, but our clinic has almost perfected the parvo cases and they nearly always pull through now. but most importantly he will need to stay at the clinic on an IV because he will puke up both food and water and will basically die from starvation.

I had a pup that had contacted Parvo. He survived. And I'm sure yours will too. Follow the vets advice. and when he starts eating start him out on a liquid diet of broth. Don't introduce solids right away.

Pray and ask the Lord to heal His little puppy. Ask the Lord to bless him so you will have a good dog to love. Thank the Lord for him and let God know that you will take care of him. God will either heal him or you'll end up with the best dog ever.
