I have 9 hamsters and one of them just gave birth about 30 minutes ago. i was holding her and when i put her down she gave birth. I removed her sister from the cage. we have recently got rid of her brother they were all in a cage together. and i was wondering how long are hamsters pregnant before birth because im not sure if her sister is a girl or a boy?

I've got a 21 month old appendix QH gelding, who is the calmest horse I've ever seen. The other day I tossed a full-body blanket on him without anyone holding him, and he paid no attention to it at all. Just stood there while I fitted it to him. I believe he will be a hunter, but want to try him out in other styles too. Probably going to be a dressage horse as well, possibly some contesting. I believe I could probably get on him without a problem, but I have to have him ready for it as far as training. I don't have a round pen, and if I use driving lines then I will have to borrow them. I have a curcingle and cavesson, but they haven't done be any good so I won't be using them. I am asking for tips in getting him to longe in the pasture; he doesn't get the idea of running in a circle and not standing next to me. Also, what tack? I think I will probably start with a tom thumb, and a regular western bridle and saddle. If english, I will probably use a regular o-ring.

Ok, I bought my step-daughter a gerbil for Valentines day. We brought it home from Petco, fixed up the cage, water, food, the whole works. Well, she hasn't eaten or drank anything since we got her. Also, when I got her out of the cage for the second time (yesterday), my step-daughter kinda reached to pet her, and she jumped bit me and the oddest thing happened. I wasn't holding the gerbil by the tail, but when she bit me, I almost dropped her and kinda grabbed toward her, and all the fur of the tail seemed to "shed" like a lizards tail would come off, except just the hair, but there was alot of blood. I have never seen this happen before and was wondering what could be wrong with this gerbil? Could it have been sick when we got it? and maybe the lack of eating/drinking could have caused the thing with the tail? I am very devistated, as this is her first pet. We have a very healthy hampster, and my husband has had gerbils, and never anything like this!?

I'm so sick of seeing people get a puppy or a dog on an impulse and then suddlenly realize a few weeks later that they arent ready for a pet, dont have time for it, or whatever other lame excuse they can come up with. I dont currently have a pet but about 2 weeks ago we found a stray running around with not collar or tags. We took her to the vet and she had a microchip. the owner can right out and said when contacted that he didnt want her anymore. Come on give me a break!!!!! This dog was a model dog, housebroken, commands, etc. We did the right thing and took it to get shots, etc at the vet and then had to find her a new home since we live in an apartment complex that doesnt allow pets. We screened people and thought we had found her a forever home just to find that the new owner hadnt asked her husband and so now the dog had to go. Not only is she tossing this dog to another home she's charging $200 adoption fee. We only charged $50 which as not eve close to what we spent.

we had our first baby goat born yesterday. the mother allowed her to nurse only once & then we had to remove her due to the freezing weather ( all of our others froze to death in the past week after they were born) we took her into the warm house & cleaned her up & began bottle feeding her. She was doing fine, then this morning she was limp, gasping for a breath ever 20 seconds or so & had a very slow heart beat. She died before we could get her to the vet.. We have one more goat about to deliver, how can we prevent this from happening again.

There are some for sale in my area, and they are just adorable. But I don't know anything about caring for them, they're temperment, etc. If I were to get two, I'd research them thoroughly before... but I can't decide if I even want to go that far. Does anyone own any? Or have you owned one before and never will again? Thanks!

We're not really sure why he is doing this. I read where we should wash him with warm water and antibacterials, but the puss has us worried about him. It doesn't really seem to bother him, but I know it can NOT be good. Please help if you have any experience with this. Thanks!

Some people are willing to spend great sums of money for procedures to extend their pets lives. Years ago .... it seemed as if they were just euthanized . How much money would you be willing to spend to save your beloved pet ? Do you think pets have acheived a higher status than they had years ago or ... are we just more affluent ???
