My daughter has a dwarf hampster, last night and earlier this morning he was just fine running around and playing. Then when she just checked on him he is barely moving, his stomach looks flat ,he is still breathing and everything, but he is practictaly lifeless. He wasn't smooshed or anything, she is very careful with him. He had been in his little home all day then she finds him just laying there barely moving. I think he may be dehydrated but I don't know. Does anyone know what to do?? Please help she is crying...

I have six pygmy goats. One of them started coughing a while back, so we took her to the vet and started her on antibiotics. She never really stopped coughing, but it slowed a little. Then I noticed another one coughing, so we put her on the antibiotics as well. Now the've both been through it and are still coughing.

It's like a raspy sort of cough and it makes their back legs come off the ground. It's pretty hard to watch.

I can't separate them because one is the "alpha" and the other is the victim of her bullying (and also has two babies at her side) but I don't want the other 4 goats to catch whatever it is.

Please tell me any advice you have on this!

Thanks so much!!!

i purchased a female rat from a pet store saturday to befriend my four adult females. she was from that sad tank that i hate even thinking about but that's besides the point. or is it? i'm bad at guessing rattie ages but she was definitely young. not too young but young enough to be especially small and cute! anywho, i didn't let her anywhere near my other rats and set her up in a nice little cage filled with carefresh, a bottle and a bowl of water and some crappy food that the pet store was feeding just so i wouldn't be changing too much right away. i thought i was doing everything right and she was just as curious and friendly as could be. once i put her in her cage and made sure she looked happy i left her alone the rest of saturday. last night i let her come out and play while i was sitting on the couch being a bum. after about an hour she went in her cage for the night. i came home from work today and found her dead in her chube.

any idea what could have caused this?

I just got my long-haired hamster from the store and I tried putting him in a cage, but he got out of my hands and I had to run around to catch him. I firmly held him (but not too tightly) with both hands, but he seemed very nervous and tried to escape. How do I calm him down (besides giving treats) and make him not as nervous so that I can hold him?

I used to have two pet mice, both of which lived two long years of life before recently passing away. I would like to get more. My previous two mice were feeder mice I saved at the pet store, however this time I would like to buy mice actually bred for being pets--fancy mice.

However, I was unsure of whether or not have an odd number would be harmful to the mice. I had two last time, but I was thinking of having three this time. The problem is, I am uncertain as to whether two of the mice would gang up on the third. I don't want to buy this many if it's going to hurt one of the animals, so anyone who can help me, I would greatly appreciate the advice.

Thank you very much.
