This really sounds like your piggie's grease gland. I apologize if I'm wrong, but the spot I'm thinking about is right in the middle of their "butt", and is generally rounded and covered with a slightly sticky substance.

That page has a couple of good pictures of what a grease gland looks like.
It's not a problem medically, unless it becomes infected. If it gets pretty nasty, you can use 1-2 drops of dishwashing liquid on that area to break up the grease and help clean it.

Its a mite infestation, its called selnic, the matted sticky bit is your pig having a good old scratch, but seriously this can kill and its very uncomfortable for the guinea pig, please do not put olive oil or peanut butter on your animal as someone suggested, the first sign of sun and they will burn. You obviously dont have to listen to me but take the pig to your vet and just suggest selnic mite, and see what he thinks, but having 28 pigs i have seen this countless times, its nothing you are doing wrong, its just one of those things.

My Guinea Pig had this(long ago when I was a child so some of the details are hazy) it is a recognised condition in guinea pig especially older males. If it's the same thing as mine had it's to do with a build up of poo and not such good muscle tone to get it out. Its all a bit gross I know, but see your vet.
They're suprisingly good with small animals.(they care just as much about the health of a mouse as they do of a prize cow or at least thats how it seems)

I had this difficulty with my guinea pigs and in spite of the reality that mites would desire to be between the solutions, it sounds much less possibly in case you clean them generally and take great care with their hygiene. nonetheless it relatively is relatively useful to purchase some thing (I have been given tablets for mine with a liquid which you place on the lower back of the neck) which will help rid them of mites as a precaution. even though, my guinea pigs have bald patches in the back of their ears that's genetic, it relatively is thoroughly hairless and extremely wide-spread, nonetheless i've got by no ability heard of it being everywhere else on the physique subsequently. What I do think of nonetheless is they're tormented by what's stated as 'grooming', the place a guinea pig turns into bored and starts to pluck hairs from the different guinea pig(s). it may even commence doing this to itself. My oldest male began doing this to his cage mate - the different one had thoroughly hairless aspects on his legs and abdomen. while the different guinea pig began to get protective, my oldest one began plucking himself bald the place he would desire to attain on his own physique! So certainly it sounds as in the experience that your guinea pigs have become bored and trimming each and each others/their own fur. a guideline would be greater toys and an indoor/outdoors run as a metamorphosis of atmosphere. and consistent with hazard coping with them greater many times would help to, as i got here across this broke the boredom for them.

Usually, that's too long for me. I believe it depends on the guy and also his face though. Certain guys may pull off long hair and other people can't.

This happens with Guinea pigs it is probably best if you see your vet even if he does seem to be healthy.
