I used to have two pet mice, both of which lived two long years of life before recently passing away. I would like to get more. My previous two mice were feeder mice I saved at the pet store, however this time I would like to buy mice actually bred for being pets--fancy mice.

However, I was unsure of whether or not have an odd number would be harmful to the mice. I had two last time, but I was thinking of having three this time. The problem is, I am uncertain as to whether two of the mice would gang up on the third. I don't want to buy this many if it's going to hurt one of the animals, so anyone who can help me, I would greatly appreciate the advice.

Thank you very much.

i used to breed fancy mice, and i had two cages with a group in each cage, there were upwards of 25 mice in each cage unit, so no, mice are very social and have a strong family bond.

the more the merrier if you have space,

and as an aside, males are much freindlier than females, and you get keep a group of three males together without much sparing, but they play just like dogs and cats

if you do have three it is a good idea that they be the same sex. two males and a female and one of them could get hurt and if you have two females and a male they may hurt him or each other when they do have babies. if you are going to breed you'll need atleast two tanks. you'll probably have to remove him before she has the babies so that they don't get eaten. if you have any questions e-mail me i used to breed mice.

i see lots of mice in small cages at pet stores and they seem to get along great. i think it might depend on the breed though. :)

well if they are from the same litter, probably the same cage at the pet store, then they should like each other, and you should have no problem.
