I might get a horse.....but it will cost a lot. How much would it cost to keep a horse. Such as boarding and feeding, taking it to the vet, shoeing the horse?

I had a hamster, but she died. I asked my dad if I could get another one but he said that he will think about it. He is leaning towards the answer no because hamsters are high maintainence. What is an animal that is not a dog or a cat that is low maintainence?

He is a lovely fellow and I am very keen to keep him as he deserves a better life. Anyhow I have bought hima a cage with tunnels etc and he is very friendly. The only thing is he bloody sticks. I have has him bathed today at my local dog groomers and he got scared by a dog and now smells like a toilet agtain. I have him booked in for a castration this week which I have been told can help with this. Can anyone give me any advice on owning these intelligent little creatures as I am not very knowledgable about them.

Alright, so this is a really old saddle but never used on a horse, the skirt is a bit bent but the tree is fine. The metal riggings are a bit rusted.
Ive never really dealt with western, so what needs to be fixed or replaced before this is useable? How much would it probably cost? Is this saddle doomed to only be a decoration saddle for life?

I have 2 american shorthaired cats both around 15 lb and one Itallian Greyhound around 18 lb (but he's very tall 17" or so). I will be moving to Italy for two years and so I must bring them with me. Please give me the requirements that I must meet to bring them. also If you know of any helpful hints for traveling with pets they would be great!!! the dog (Jackie) is a good traveler and so is one of the cats (Seven Colors), unfortunatly the eldest cat (Miss.Kitty) crys even when we go to the vets a few blocks away. I really don't want to use sedatives because I hear there really bad, what can I do to calm her down? I don't want her to be a hassel to the others on the plane. There is no quarantine to Italy (last I knew) but what papers and vaccines do they all need? It's a 9hr flight there and then a car ride to where we will be living, obviously my pets can't hold there water that long, but I have a neat Idea for the cats, the dog however I'm unsure about. Thank you!!!!

I've heard they should be allowed to chew on wood but I have a few concerns:

1. We had loads of wood sitting in our basement but how can I tell if it's untreated or not? My guess is that it is untreated; theres no paint or anything on it but if there a way to be sure?

2. What if my rabbits eat the wood instead of just chew on it? Is it okay for them to injest it?

3. I've heard that it is possible for rabbits to get splinters from wood, how do I avoid/minimize this risk?

I am very allergic to rabbits, guinea pigs, cats and some dogs but I have had no problems with my hamsters or gerbils. I really, really want rats but it is not fair on them if I have to return them because of my allergies.

i know that plastic is not good for gerbils. but i forgot exactly how bad is it?? i woke up this morning to find one of my gerbils chewing on his plastic house. i have plenty of wood in there for him to chew on, but is plastic fatal for them, or not that serious. i need to know if i should leave the plastic puzzle house in there.

i've had it in there for almost a week and i haven't seen him chew on it, so i thought i was all good with the plastic deal. but im not, so what does plastic do to gerbils??

My rabbit got fungus infection on his head. Anyway, the vet took his hair sample for the lab to check. And I have to wait another week for the lab result back. I mean is this normal?Since he is the vet,why can't he take a look of my rabbit's head and know what kind of disease he's having right away?Besides what can I do to the infection in one week?Is this vet not doing his job well?

She now has lots of energy.
She was supposed to not run for 10-14 days after the operation... now she has more energy than ever. She is doing binkies and jumping on my bed from the floor. She's a dwarf rabbit. Will this tear her stitches or will she be fine?
