We have really great laws in the US protecting animals and pets on the books right now. Unfortunately, the laws we have are not enforced. And when they are, they are interpreted differently by different people. Most Animal Control Officer's take a lot of abuse trying to enforce the law, and really have the animals welfare first and foremost in their mind. But when a public group like PETA is found to have distroyed more animals than it saved, (www.petakillsanimals.com ) it gives animal rights groups a bad name.
Education is paramount with the public. Some new laws are becoming so strict, (check Lexington, Kentucky) it will make owning an animal illegal or to expenive for most people. Animals are, and should be, our companions. Not a luxury afforded the rich.
We don't need to close all pet stores, we need to teach them, so they can teach the public. We don't need to condemn all "animal breeders", they are often the best source of information on genetics, disease, nutrition, etc... (sometimes having more practical knowledge than the vets or legislators).
Broad laws dictating animal care often doesn't work, because species are so different. What works for a dog, doesn't work for a rabbit, what works for a rabbit doesn't work for a snake or a bird.
Lets enforce the laws we have and educate people that animals were put here under our care, and we have no right to abuse or neglect them.

regrettably, the animal rights human beings take opportunities to end millers and attempt to get the guidelines utilized to anybody. there are multiple solid breeders accessible that are caught in the conflict of removing puppy generators. further, how are you able to tell if the situation is a byb who's in basic terms breeding for the $$$ or a valid breeder who has spent an entire life studying on the subject of the breed, exhibiting and spends the time it takes to come across the dazzling canines to reproduce with a view to make the breed extra advantageous? those are confusing issues to legislate. One theory is for AKC to no longer settle for registrations for those places breeding extra effective than X canines according to 3 hundred and sixty 5 days yet they do no longer desire to try this by using fact they desire the money too. So there's a dilemma. the suited element is to instruct human beings as to what to seem for in a in charge breeder and why they could care. Then those customers can vote with their pocketbooks and leave the BYB with lots of unsold domestic canines.

Yes, definitely. Too many people get away with abusing animals each year and it has to stop. Some people barely get any jail time! If a person were to kill a person, they'd go straight to jail, no discussion. If a person kills an animal, then they get a slap on the wrist. That disgusts me. Animals deserve just as much justice as people. Who's to say that animals lives are worth less then peoples???

we already have laws protecting and regulating how to care for animals....stricter laws will not ameliorate the problem....laws only keep honest and decent people honest and decent...they do nothing to stop the sick, twisted or just plain hateful from what they will do....sorry
