A dog, They are more loyal, loving, and have personalities. Cats are roamers, they don't listen like dogs.
Get a mini dachshund (weener dog.)

If you want to make sure no mice intrude upon you get a cat. If you hope no human burglars break in to your home get a dog capable of attacking a burglar. If you want a perpetual baby you can carry around and dress, get a tiny dog. 3 or 4 lbs or so. It is now against the law to declaw a young cat as it is considered cruel and painful to the cat. Even if you buy cat climbing gymnasiums they can claw with your blessings, you may later walk around the house and find the screens on every window clawed so badly out of position that the cat can use the windows instead of the doors when they want out, and that your screens will admit mice, insects and anything that can get in there. You can train the cat but may not be able to convince the cat the rules apply whether you are in the house or not. Because of the declawing law more cats are outdoor cats. The best cat you can have now is probably an indoor cat that was declawed a few years ago and now someone moving needs to give it away to a good home.

it depends on your circumstances. If you are free all day (or most of it) and have enough time to walk, train and look after a pet than a dog would be good. If you are busy with work or don't have enough time to walk etc then you should get a cat as they more independant than dogs and won't require you to take them for walks or look after them all day. If you do decide on a dog then I suggest that you get one from one of the many adoption centers. These dogs (and occasionally puppies) require love, attention and a warm, home to live in. If you want a pedigree dog then you go to one of the breed specialist centers. Always remember to look up dog breeds before you go ahead and get one coz then you can check on how much exercise, grooming etc that a breed needs. If you want a cat then you can go to a cat adoption center, there should be one near you. These cats are also deserving of a loving homes.

Whatever you decide, good luck and remember to read up on dogs and cats. You'll be amazed!

While dogs are totally adorable, they need attention 24-7. If you travel a lot, your dog will be sad. Even if you get a good friend to take care of him while you are gone, he will still miss you terribly. Chances are, he might be too sad to eat, and could die. He would also have to be walked twice a day, so if you are lazy, dogs are not for you. Also be prepared to pick up their poop. They don't smell great either. Cats on the other hand won't miss you, don't smell, and don't need to be walked. They go in a litter box which you have to clean daily, but at least you get to use a spatula to pick it up. Many people think cats aren't playful, but it depends on the cat really. So, if you want a dog, go ahead and get one, just be prepared to base your day around it.

Cats can be loving playful creatures but are more like spoiled royality, and only want attention when they want it...Dogs are more happy go lucky, always affectionate. They learn tricks, you don't have to clean out a litterbox with dogs, and you have a wide variety of the size of dog you get. Cats are kinda one sized...Dogs can be kinda high maintenece too, cause you have to wash them, and take them on walks, and take them outside, and train them...cats go in a box (that smells to high heaven) Just do your research and see what suits you best. And of course go to a shelter to adopt!

It really depends on you.
For instance if you have children you need to consider if they have allergies. If you want someone to cuddle with at time but don't want a lot of responsibility it would be a cat. If you want someone that needs a lot of attention, love and responsibility go with the dog. I have 1 cat and 4 dogs so if you have any other questions e-mail me.

Get a cat.

Why would anyone want to walk around after an animal waiting for it to poo so you can gather up a baggy full?? Plussing as which dogs smell bad and wipe their butts on your furniture!
