It does a quick back flip a split second before it lands.

Edit: Flies land on the ceiling by flying close to it, sticking their front pair of legs above and in front of their heads, and grabbing onto the ceiling as they fly under it. Their inertia causes them to do a half-backflip, pivoting around their front legs. They then grab hold with their middle and back legs.

pleasing question, i'd have an interest to work out different peoples answer while they get around to submitting them. yet I did see a documentary as quickly as the place a fly grow to be put in a freezer for some minute. This made them sort of doped, then the experimenters intently tied purely somewhat cotton around it 'neck?' and waited for it to come back around. It then flew around on its lead. They assured the visitors that it grow to be no longer risky to the fly. It grow to be extremely pleasing.

Ah interesting question...and how does it know when to stop flapping its little wings?

Did u know little house lizards can jump? HOW? Their legs and feet are flat to the wall and suckered to it too...I've seen it a hundred times and am always amazed. They often fall from ceilings onto you and give you a heckuva shock, but I never saw a fly get it wrong!
