I am 14 years old and I worked my whole entire life around horses. Also I am a competitve dressage rider, and right now I ride a horse that is too small for me (14'3) and that is below my training level, so I cant move on to the upper levels. My mom knows that I am a good rider and that I need proper coaching/training, horse, etc. I do have a coach already, but I really want to go further into the dressage world!
I do get offers from people to ride there horses but I want to show next season (season starts end of March) and i dont know if I can show those horses.

what can I do for her? I just gave her a bath and she was pissed at me for it. When I went outside to clean her litter box she ran out as I tried to close the door. She was gone for 2 days. She came back tonight and I picked her up she started licking me and thats when i smelled that horrible gagging smell. Im afraid if I give her another bath she'll try and take off again. What else can I do to get that smell off of her?

I've seen my neighbor's kids (age 8 and 6) climbing riding their pregnant mare bareback around the pasture. Really, she's just in a halter, so she goes where she pleases. She doesn't seem to mind their presence at all, but I cringe everytime I see them kick her belly!

I don't want to start a ruckus with my neighbor--he's touchy--but I will go over and talk to him if that mare is in danger. What do you think?

someone told me to put vanilla on a cotton ball and put it in their cage and it will confuse them and keep them from being so territorrial. does anyone know if this true or false? I think i have come to the conclusion they are just wrestling because No blood is drawn and their is no hissing.. only squeeking, and they seem fine. but id like to reduce the "wrestling" and i heard this would help .

My children always had pet rats when they were children, and as classroom pets. They are smart, can learn their names be trained. I have so many good memories of our pet rats. Like one particular rat we had as a class pet: The kids would get the rat out and this rat LOVED to jump. So, the kids would put her one one desk. Then they'd all gather around another desk, because if you were standing close she'd just climb up your shirt. But she wanted you to pick her up really bad so the kids would gather around another desk that was about 2 feet from the desk the rat was on. Then they'd call her. AND she'd jump to the desk like a little sailing acrobat to get to the kids. (We put a pillow on the floor, just in case.) Also, some of the kids would take the rats out of the cage and put them in their desk. Then you'd see the rats crawling on them then back in the desks. On day, one of the kids forgot the rats in their desk. We looked back and they were running to catch up our line.

I have noticed for the last 2 weeks a pet belonging to a resident of our 4 plex has been living outside on the second story porch with no food, little water, no shelter and a few soiled blankets to lay on. The entire porch is covered in feces and urine, and this is an untreated wooden porch. Another friend of mine has already called it in a week ago, but it appears this person hasn't changed a thing. It's the middle of winter and we live in Kansas. It's cold and wet out! Should I report this again? I have pictures of the living conditions and I hate seeing any pet suffer like that.

The day befor x-mas my Mom who is caring for my dog, fed her some turkey, etc. The next day she began vomiting and the runs, both containing blood. we took her to the vet the day after christmas, they checked her blood count, and checked her for other things, gave her an IV to replinish from fluid loss, gave her some med's, kept her overnight, then placed her on special food... she isnt running fever, but she isnt acting normal. The vomiting has lessened, but the runs have continued, we are having trouble getting her to eat much of anything now! We called the vet back, but they never returned our calls, I am very very worrried about her. The vet seemed to think her bowels have just been irretated and inflamed from the turkey etc. she had the day before x-mas.. Any help would be appreciated. She is an 8 year old min pin, only other medical condidtion is fatty tumors on her chest area. Thanks ahead of time. Brandy in KY

I am currently questioning my carrer path and I need help. I have always always wanted to open up a Humane Society for homeless animals. I want to be able to spay and neuter cats and dogs, but I don't want to be a ful fledge veterinarian. Is that possible? I have heard of veterinary specialists. Could I do that?

How many years of school does a vetrinarian have to go to school? Thanks!

Im tired of the dumb comments. lol
My mice have been fighting, they are biological brother and they were born and raised together. they have just recently started fighting. Some people told me this is a form of play and is totally harmless if i dont notice any physical damage.(and i dont), But im just worried to put them back in the cage together. They have gotten along fine. And now i seperated them they miss each other and seem depressed. Im scared to put them back together cause what if this is not play, what if they will hurt each other when im not looking. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Because i really dont want to seperate my boys.

If this is true then it raises serious implications as to whether their opinion can be truly impartial when it comes to animal nutrition.

This point was raised by another user yesterday as a general comment.
