You have to show her you are the boss. She just can't come and leave as she pleased. You gave her a bath because you felt she needed it, simple as that. If she wants to run off again, lock her out. She will come back because even animals know home is where the they belong and that you love her, so I wouldn't worry. Just let her know who lives with who...!

Your local veterinarian or pet shop should sell a shampoo to wash her in. For a cat, they might even have it in a spray so oyu dont have to give her another bath but the spray may not be as efective. There are special shampoos made especially for "stink". The person working there should be able to help you pick from what is available in your local store.

If she hasn't been spayed, worry more about her being pregnant. Otherwise, if you don't want to give her a bath, you can rub her down with a damp washcloth (won't help a lot), they sell stuff at a good pet store to give a cat a waterless bath (they also sell moist clothes to wipe down you cat, usually they have a pleasant scent to them) and she'll continue to clean herself and eventually smell normal again.

they have these "cat bath towelettes" at any nearby petco/petsmart...I work at a petsmart so I know lol, it just like those little napkins we use when our hands are dirty "Wet Ones" or like baby wipes....but for a cat, and you can just rub them on her as you pet her and it should take care of the smell...also they have "Cat Perfume" you might wanna pick that up to and spray her with it after the bath just in case she goes out again the male cat won't smell his mark.

Is she spayed? If not, why is she running around outside? I don't know if she was sprayed by a cat or a skunk. If it was a skunk, tomato juice is what will get the smell out.

She might have been in heat and rolled in some tomcat urine. I had a cat spray me once. I was supposed to take it as a compliment from him. I took him to the vet and fixed him good.
Wash her an keep her in so she doesn't roll in the dirt. They used to put tomato juice on a dog to get skunk spray off them.

Baking soda mixed with peroxide takes skunk off my bird dog. Dries the heck out of their skin & enrages them but it works great!
