I am 14 years old and I worked my whole entire life around horses. Also I am a competitve dressage rider, and right now I ride a horse that is too small for me (14'3) and that is below my training level, so I cant move on to the upper levels. My mom knows that I am a good rider and that I need proper coaching/training, horse, etc. I do have a coach already, but I really want to go further into the dressage world!
I do get offers from people to ride there horses but I want to show next season (season starts end of March) and i dont know if I can show those horses.

First, you need to show them that you're responsible enough to get a horse. Get a job working with horses. That will show them that you are responsible and it will help pay for the horse. Maybe if they buy it then you will pay for the food and supplies.Tell them that it will be good for you to have some thing to take care of, some thing that you will be responsible for. Make sure you have plenty of money for food and supplies before you get one. Good Luck!

I got my first horse last year (i was 14) I bet that if you find a really good deal on a horse in your area they'd consider it. The way I got mine was I went to a rodeo with my dad and i said daddy, i want a horse. he said no but there was a horse auction in town that weekend and within 6 days of wanting one i got one. How about you save up a while and buy one yourself? Get a job at a barn cleaning stables and feeding and stuff. Itd be fun!!

I had the same problem when I was younger only I show TN Walking horses, I can't really give much advice because I had to wait till I was grown and bought my horse myself... maybe you could get a weekend job at a local stable helping younger kids ride or cleaning stalls, try the 50/50 on your parents you pay half they pay half on a new horse

tell them maybe if you cant stay involved with horses (by having your own) you will get busy with the "bad" kids and party a lot...

compromise by trying a 1 year lease, if you do good with that it may help soften your parents up to buying one

Have you asked your parents? Tell them exactly what you have written here, it's pretty convincing to me.
