Yes you could own a zebra, if you happened to find one that needs a home. I would recommend that you get a horse instead. Zebras are so similar to horses that they are almost the same species, but they have the personality of a wild animal, therefore you would not be able to ride your zebra or keep it in a stable with other horses.

Zebras are not at all like horses. They are wild and should stay in the wild. Where on earth would you run into a stray zebra? LOL. So, even if you wanted to do this you need proper training. If these people that you mention are taking babies away from their moms and training them to do tricks that is just wrong and cruel! Animals are not meant to be entertaining us!

go for it. Just make sure you know, zebras are wild animals. Yes, they are related to horses, but they are not very much like them, except in the instinct as prey animals. They are very territorial animals and are probably much more aggressive than horses. There might be some extra expenses involving owning one, like different feed, or different veterinary assistance, things like that. Remember, don't just think about how much you want one, think about how the animal's gonna feel if it doesn't get what it needs!

it really is amazingly complicated to journey a zebra. you're seeing a zebra-mule bypass, or a zebra-horse bypass, if you're seeing them journey the zebra. maximum crosses seem exceptionally different, though. The zebra's unpredictable nature and tendency to panic less than pressure cause them to undesirable applicants for domestication. through an same token, they are undesirable artwork animals. they may well be used for pulling carriages as a novelty, yet my wager is your associates basically own the animal as a verbal substitute piece.

It depends on where you live. Many areas have strict laws regarding which animals can be kept as pets without special permits.

Personally, I think what those Spots 'n Stripes Ranch people in your link are doing is pretty sick. Taking baby zebras away from their mothers so they never learn real zebra behaviors, but instead are groomed and taught enough tricks to become "novelty pets"? That's cruel, imo.

I love tigers, but that doesn't mean I should keep one in my backyard.

You will need to contact your local Game and Fish department, and obtain a permit for exotic wildlife.

I would note they are expensive in the vet department, as you will most likely have to have a vet from nearby zoo help you, and the diet would have to be obtained likely from the zoo as well, as they are not typical horses, a typical horse diet would not be healthy for them.

Also, it does not appear the listed zebra's are pure bred zebra's but a cross breed, so you may not have to jump through as many hoops.

Good luck! But most importantly check with your local game and fish because the fine can be extensive if it is illegal in your area.

You cant just get one a keep it as a pet. You have to have the proper training and you need a licence for that. You have to meet the requirements for owning one and have proper living arrangements for them.

Yes, their quite similar to a horse so there will be alot of work
involved in keeping one. The bigger the animal, the more exspen-
sive they are to keep, feed , house, ect, ect, ect. Good Luck !

Yes, you can, unless there is a local or state ordinance against exotic animals. They ARE, however, a pain in the ***.
