Hi.. I have a 10litre fish tank with guppy fry in it (I don't want to keep them in the main tank for obvious reasons). I test the water for nitrates/nitrites every day and the numbers are just horrible! Some of my fish died already. I have a Hagen-made sachet in the tank which claims to trap phospates/nitrites/nitrates. Doesn't help! 1 sachet/60litre tank. I can't have any bio-filter cause the tank is just too small!!! Do you know any products or just anything which would help me??? Thank you

There are a few things I was wondering about water changes and stuff for my beta fish bowl.

First of all, will changing all of the water in a bowl kill my betta fish?

Secondly, I have little rocks at the bottom of my bowl. (I'm just missing a fish, now. :P) How do I keep them clean?

I was planning to pour them out into a sand/flour sifter and washing them with tap water, but that would require dumping all the water in the tank out as well, making partial water changes impossible. Which is why I ask.

Thanks for the help. <3

i got this plant at pet smart, and the person there didn't know what it was, it sprouts a white flower with a sweet smell, at least it did when i got it, and i think it looks like a peace lily, but everyone keeps telling me its not. so i personally have no clue ether, i've also been told a peace lily can't live under water like this but it seems to be thriving, and has about 15 new stems coming out, and only had the 5 large one's when i got it... here are a few pic's of it.

I just bought a used 85 gallon aquarium but it doesn't have a hood. The previous owner didn't use one. Where can I find a hood for it? What size hood(s) do I need? I am assuming that I will need to buy more than one.

My mom has a pound and she quits feeding the fish near winter and then turns off the pump. They sit their and float around not eating anything for the whole winter. How can they survive for like 3 months without food and in the freezing water?

I also heard a story of a women who would freeze her fish every time she went on a business meeting. Then when she got back she would unfreeze them and they would still be living? I was told this at the pet shop so I think it's an accurate story.

Should we just kill millions of sharks just cuz they kill 10 a year? WE are the ones invading the territory, so why are we killing them? Do you think that we should? Why so when you answer say yes or no, even maybe and WHY!!!!

What I really need to know from someone that has experience with this particular fish is how often do I have to feed it? He's already about 14 inches long and I prefer to feed him shrimp or goldfish. If I feed him until he doesn't want anymore, do I feed him again the next day, or should I feed him until he's full every other day? He's now eating 4 goldfish at feeding time once a day.

I really need some advice from someone who's not guessing but has experience.

I have 3 questions about my pregnant white molly:

1) I bought her on July 14 and she was already pregnant. When she will give birth.

2) What will happen if i am not here, will she or the other fish eat them? (there is a small castle that the other fish are to big to get into)

3) what should i do when she starts to have the babies (i have a 5 gallon tank, can i put the babies in that)

One of my bettas just had a water change 3 days ago. It's extremely cloudy! I did add a new decoration (it's like a cave) in the tank, but I rinsed it off with hot water really well before I put it in his tank. Should I change is water again, or will he be ok? He's building a bubble nest, so he doesn't seem to mind, but I don't want him to get sick or anything.

My other betta's water is fine, though.

If I put a bloodworm pellet on my finger and hover just above the water, they come out of the water a little to eat it.

Does anyone else's do this? It is really cute.

I have a saltwater fish tank (reef tank)
it is a 55gallon, with 60lbs fully cured live rock from an established tank, and 30lbs agronite, 20lbs live sand, and 1lb live sand from another established tank. I have a skimmer running 24hrs and a fluval 305...

i was getting set up for the 'cycle' and i starting adding small amount of pure ammonia for 3 days until my Am ppm was at 1.5.....

i never saw any nitrites, but my ammonia has been dropping and my nitrates are up to a nice 20ppm....

now that nitrates have shown up for the last 2 days, and my ammonia is now at 0...i have a few questions.

1. if my ammonia is dropping (now at 0) why is my nitrates showing and i never seen any nitrites?

2. my sand is having some light 'alge blooms' of red...its like the sand is sorta turning red...why is this, and is it ok?

3. is my tank cycled? did i kind of clone a tank? should i add a fish or 2 to keep ammonia in there? a cleanup crew? (i already have 5 hermits and 5 snails) thanks
