I have some guppies (2 female, 1 male) in a 10 gallon. After christmas, I will be getting a 55 gallon to put male offspring in. The females will stay in the 10 gallon and possilby one other 10 gallon i have laying around. What I need is a single fish that won't hurt my adult guppies but will help control the fry population until I get the 55 gallon set up. what are some good fish to eat fry that will go well in a 10 gallon setup?

We have a 40 gallon salt water tank with two fish. We feed the fish every two or three days. We do a 10 to 20% water change once a week sometimes once every two weeks. However the nitrate levels are sky high. They go down after the water change, but they go up soon after. Any idea what we should do?

I have one, 3 month old, Guppy, who is a sinker. Whenever he tries to swim to the top to eat, it sinks to the bottom. It tries again only to get tangle in the roots of the plants. Does anyone know what it's problem is? My other 20 fries are just fine and so are their parents. Whoever heard of a fish that can't swim.

I am setting up a new 55 gallon freshwater aquarium. I live in an area where the supply water has a high degree of hardness. Is it worthwhile for me to invest in a RO water purifier for my aquarium needs? What are some of the things I need to keep in mind in selecting one? What are some good brands?

I have over 200 guppies. One of them has become fat and huge but she is not pregnant. She was fine till a couple of months ago but can now hardly swim properly because she is so fat. She eats with no problems and doesn't seem sick. This is the second one it's happened to in the last 2 years. All my other fish are fine.

We had two fantail goldfish that have been fine for around 3 months. We went and brought 2 more fantails on saturday and introduced them into the tank. The next morning my husband discovers my two old fishes tails and fins and in shreds. I have been watching continuosly to see if i have an aggresive new fish but have not seen any aggresive behaviour. Do you think they have tail rot or have been attacked? Also what can i do to help their tails will they grow back? One of them looks like i can see its tail bones :-(
I did look today and it seems more fluffier looking so i dont know if its new tail growing or like a fungus what a mess :-(
i just want my babies to survive

Pet smart told me to use Maroxy, 5 drops per day, not doing a thing. Fungus looks like a fuzzy coating across the fish. He rubs it on the marbles. Also is listless and I don't want to loose him. Please help. Ive read that people use aqurium salt for parasites and such. Please enlighten me. I have no heaters and the other bettas seen like there doing well for quite some time now. Help please Thanks Barb

I really like having small snails in my fish tanks to eat the extra food & keep the place clean. I'm having a real tough time finding them in local pet stores though.

My tanks currently contain:

1/2 gallon unfiltered with an African Dwarf Frog & 3 brown rams head snails (? That's what the pet store guy I went to called them. These are my favorites and I've been fairly successful with them, but he doesn't carry them anymore and I can't find them anywhere else.)

1 gallon with 3 small feeder goldfish & 1 brown Mystery snail (I've never have any luck with Mystery snails so I don't know why I wasted $7 CDN on another one, but not being able to find anything else I figured I'd try again...)

Both tanks also have 1 live plant.

I wondered... if these snails die... if I sort of quarantined them first (put them in fresh water & kept changing it for a week or so) could I just catch some in a lake & put them in there?

Thanks for your snail experience!!
