I'm am just asking this out of curiosity I personally have a Penn PLax Cascade 200 works very well.

Out of the 3 brands that I have, Penguin, Aquaclear and Whisper, I like the Aquaclears the best. The Penguin is good since it has the bio wheels but I like foam better (no cartridges) that Aquaclear uses and it comes with Biomax.

I have a 55 gallon saltwater tank with an Ehiem 2215. I do nothing to it for 4 to 6 months and when I do, it costs me $14.00 for three disks. You don't have to replace everything in the filter and I have had no problems with this filter. I highly recomend the Ehiem brands. Do not go Fluval. But these are canaster filters.
Hang on filters, we have used in the past are Whispers. I had two on my 55 gallon and just moved to a canaster. I don't know why we waited so long

All the brands are pretty much the same.
I personnally do not like anything that i need to buy a cartridge for
but i do have a Marineland "Magnum" 200 that i use for water polishing. It works pretty good and i have heard that Fluval makes good ones too.

Personally, always had pretty good luck with the penguin bio wheel. Filters and helps remove ammonia at the same time.

Go with homeboy above me, he knows what he is talking bout, go with the Marineland, less problems and great customer service, they really take care of their customers if you ever have a problem. Replacing and shipping parts free of charge is needed with little ofr no questions asked. Plus I love they way those wheels pick up, maintain and keep bacteria on it. WONDERFUL!
All their brands are pretty wonderful.
