Most of the time it is the size/shape of the fin on the bottom side of their body. Also, you can see eggs (when females are pregnant) on some varities.

Some fish are like birds. You tell the difference of sex with birds by color.

Like guppies, males will have color whereas the females dont.

Some male fish are smaller than the female and some are bigger. It all has to do with the type of fish you are looking at. Betta males are larger in size next to the female.

Boys and girls tend to be taller than fish. Plus fish live in watter. hehe jk

many fish have markings like betas and gupppies like there tails and colors but other wise besides tere ,arkings you have to ask there store clerks were you bout the fish.
