There is black furry looking algae growing in my fish tank. Anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it? I have algae eaters, but they won't touch the stuff.

I have set up a fish tank for about 9 days now. I keep reading things on fishless cycling, but I can't wait that long to buy them. The buyer that I want to purchase them from is only availble today. Will the fish end up dying if I get them now and my tank hasnt cycled fully? (I am not gonna buy a test kit, so don't say to go and buy one) I'm done spending money, ive spent over 200 bucks. I added a bacteria supplement and water conditioner. The filter has been running for about 9 days as well. I also bought used decoration for the tank and cleaned it well (im hoping this will contain some good bacteria to speed up the process?) What are the chances of the guppies surviving if I buy them today?

I have 2 female betta fish in a 2 1/2 gal aquarium. They both spend alot of time at the top right corner of the aquarium attached together and staying still(playing dead ) . They seem to rub each other all the time (not aggresively but friendly) and spend hours attached together. Is this normal? Sometimes they separate and hide but mostly they stay together and hardly move. Are they sick or dying?

We had two, but one died a couple of weeks ago. Now all he does is lurk at the bottom of the tank, looking listless and sad.

I've had my fish tank set up for about 9 days now. When i first started the tank i put bacteria supplement and waterconditioner. Then 3rd day it fogged up and its been clear for about 4 days now. I will put a heater in it and let it heat up for about 6 hours and then go and buy the fish (guppies). Before I buy the fish, should I do a water change (i have tap water, so do I have to put water supplemtna and bacteria supplement again in the new water I will add or will that make it fog up again?)
Also, should I let the water that I will add in for water changes rest in another tank for about a day before I add it in? I am a first time fish keeper and need all the help I can get.

They are all small sized and in a very large tank. The catfish is missing one of its side fins, so I feel bad. The bass and catfish will be eaten if I return them to their mini lake. (Our 1 neighbor caught and ate almost every fish in there) Their tank is at about 78 degrees. I feed the catfish and bass minnows, medium sized. The sunfish will only eat rosies or guppies. I have live plants in there. Am I doing everthing right? Do I need anything else? How often do I feed them? I have a newborn and I can't be going out everyday to buy feeder fish.
Thanks in advance
Shay
