I have always had betta's and i had one for two years. You always have to clean their tank. If I dont clean my tank frequently my betta will jump out of the water and onto the floor..which bettas are known to do so if you get one definately cover the bowl. Also i would put something in there for it to hide in mine likes his plant....

I only have one crowntail betta right now, but I'm about to start breeding them. I'm on the hunt for a pure purple strain right now.. If anyone out there has any contacts, let me know. I'm not interested in the iriidescent, veiled, spotted or the masked variety though, so no need to tell me about those kind.

i used to own 2. They need their water cleaned frequently, w/ a declorinator or bottled water. ours went clear after like a yr so i don't know what happened
