Feed him only what he will eat in a minute. Food dropping into the bowl will pollute the water. Once a week set a bowl of water aside so the chlorine can evaporate. The next day, swirl the bowl around to suspend most of the poop, and pour out half of the water. Refill the bowl with the water you set aside.

There are a number f sites for betta. I prefer betta talk. It has a good couple of articles for people who have just gotten a betta. Along with a number great in depth articles once you've mastered the basics.

Go to Petland. You can talk to the guy in the fish department, and they have books that you can purchase. You can learn alot from the tech's there at Petland. When I was setting up my 30 gallon tank, they were extremely helpful. But I can say, because I have two males, that you can not put bettas together unless they are females

they will have a book on betta-fish at any pet store.i don't think you feed them but just a little fish food at the time. also, don't put two males together or they will kill each other.when you want to breed only put male and female together about 1 or two hours at a time because the male will also kill the female.it doesn't get along with any other fish. they are loners.good luck! they are very beautiful fish.
