Im breeding my bettas and my male built a HUGE bubblenest. The female is showing her verticle lines, and the male flared for her, i put them together but there not doing ANYTHING. I thought they were supposed to face eachother, and do kind of a "dance", then go under the nest and breed. I had a female in there befor this one, and they were interested in eachother, but never bred(at least i didnt see them). So, i switched her after about a day (LIKE I WAS TOLD TO DO). I really want to breed them, and i need GOOD advice. (could it be possible they bred at night when i was asleep, how can i tell?) PLEASE, i need tips from experienced betta owners, or breeders!!! WHY WONT THEY BREED?????

Ok, I have yet another problem with my goldfish I purchased from Superpetz. I've had the fish since Sunday, and now I've come to the conclusion that the lice came from Superpetz. I only had 3 living things in the tank altogether, and they all came from the store on the same day. Went in today with lice in a bag with water, and the girl tells me "oh, it's lice, just pull it off".. as if it wasn't a big deal. I guess my question is, are lice a big deal? I thought they eat the fish from the inside out. My goldfish has blood streaked tail fins and an abraision from where the lice was feeding off of him. How frustrating!!

I just bought a pregnant guppy female that looks as if it is about to eXplode any second with fry! (baby fish) I put it in a smaller aquarium I set up with gravel, a big plant, and a heater. When she gives birth, I will immediately remove her from the tank and put her in my big one (96 liters) I don't want her in a breeding net because it isn't so big and I don't want to stress her... Am I doing anything wrong? When should the babies arrive? It is around 9pm here now. Should the babies be there in the morning?
Thanx

These fish and liverock and crushed coral substrate and salt and UV lighting sounds very expensive but I want to make my new 180 gallon tank saltwater. I was thinking of starting off smaller for now (20gal) just to get the hang of it. What should I know before I start spending? I already have a hygrometer but thats about it.

I recently set up a 10 gallon freshwater tank for my son. I used non chlorinated water and let the tank run 36 hours before purchasing fish for the tank. I tested the PH, which was fine prior to adding fish. I purchased 3 Columbian Sharks, which all died within 24 hrs. I tested the tank again for PH levels and also tested for ammonia, which was negative. I then purchased different varities of "Barbs", which seem to be doing ok but the water is now cloudy.

I read Mandarin Fish fight with their own species but I do not know if this means Green Mandarins will only fight with other Green Mandarins or if they will fight with any other type of fish such as the Spotted Mandarin.

I would love to have both in my tank. Is this possible? If so what is the minimum tank size to house one of each?

Please feel free to reference any type of website that has information about Mandarin Fish.

Thank you!!!

I have had 2 big (15cm long?) angelfish. i brought them home. put them into there tank(which already had 2 EXTREAMLY healthy angels.) they didnt eat but i thought it was normal for the first day. but then they kept refusing to eat. the next day the base off all of there fins had turned red. after a week they started to get fungus growth on there fins then died (still refusing to eat) then died shortly after. i got 4 smaller angels put them in and now they are begining to get red on there fins too(it looks like an inflamed area) i just woke up and discovered to dead. the thers arent lookin to good.i checked all the things PH etc and they are all where i want them to be. (ph is 6.5 nitrite nitrate and ammonia 0) anyway i still cant figure out whats wrong + the two healthy angels i mentioned before are still alive and arent showin any signs of illness (nor are they stopping to eat lol)
