GOLDFISH CANNOT LIVE IN BOWLS
Goldfish require 10 gallons PER baby/juvenile fancy goldfish(fantails, orandas, black moors ect), 20 gallons PER long bodied goldfish (comet, common, shubunkin)

The ONLY fish that can survive in a bowl is a single male betta.

Even though u may think that a fish bowl has enough oxygen, it doesn't. You need to get a bigger aquarium even if u only have 1 or 2 fish, u need at least a tank that is twice the size of a fish bowl. The other cause could be that ur not keepin the water clean. Make sure you have a filter and u change there water once a week, and change all the water once a month. I hope i have helped! Good luck with your fish!

Ammonia is killing your fish.

Ammonia is produced by fish waste, uneaten food, and
plant matter . Too much ammonia is deadly poisonous to fish.

Bacteria must grow in your bowl to breakdown the ammonia into nitrites.

Then another type of bacteria will start to grow that will breakdown the nitrites and make nitrates.

The nitrates are not particularly bad.

The best way to get ammonia is get the water for your bowl from someone with an aquarium that has been up and running with fish for at least a few months. When you add more water or replace some water, be sure you declorinate it. The chlorine in tap water will kill all the bacteria.

This process is called the Water Cyle in an aquarium.

Even though in movies and commercials you'll se a big fancy goldfish floating happily in a little fishbowl, this is only for show and those fish wont last. About the only fish you can have in bowls are labyrinth fish like siamese fighting fish. These fish have special organs above their gills that can get oxygen from the air and since it's hard to circulate oxygen in a bowl these are the only fish able to survive in one. As far as I know, all other fish require circulation and filtration systems.

That must be why the fish in the Cat in the Hat was so grumpy!

maybe the bowl isn't big enough for two, try just one to see if that helps. also do make sure the water isn't chlorinated at all and make sure you really clean the bowl out well. clean it with water that isn't chorinated too, so no traces of chlorine are left on the bowl. also dont use soap to clean the bowl that could also leave traces and kill them. I had a few black moors before in a 30 gallon fish tank with a high quality filter and they still died.

Wikipedia also states no goldfish or black moor should ever be kept in a bowl. try a betta in your bowl perhaps. Or get a tank that provides adequate room. Ten gallon tanks aren't that expensive and a small filter isn't either. Good luck!

Did you remember to dechlorinate the water (let it sit out for 2 nights or using the drops). Maybe the water quality was bad, so get that checked. Another possibility is that you might have bought sick fish. If you notice any "fuzzy" spots, white patches, cloudy eyes or abnormal symptoms, seperate your fish and get some medicine at a fish supply store.

Ammonia poisoning killed it.

The fish you have belong in an aquarium tank not a bowl. 30gal+ for these fish.

Do you have the right conditioner in the bowl. Also make sure you are feeding them the proper kind of food.
