I just bought a pregnant guppy female that looks as if it is about to eXplode any second with fry! (baby fish) I put it in a smaller aquarium I set up with gravel, a big plant, and a heater. When she gives birth, I will immediately remove her from the tank and put her in my big one (96 liters) I don't want her in a breeding net because it isn't so big and I don't want to stress her... Am I doing anything wrong? When should the babies arrive? It is around 9pm here now. Should the babies be there in the morning?
Thanx

You're doing very well. Make sure the fry have plenty of places to hide. Java moss is some good stuff (good for the water too). I would stay up as long as you can (without depriving yourself of sleep) in case mom decides to give birth tonight. Removing her as soon as possible will better the fry's chances of survival.

If you plan to continue breeding guppies, I would highly recommend getting a big old breeding net that gives your girls a lot of room. I think it would make the process a little bit easier on you. ;)

Guppies will 'box out' around their anus prior to giving birth, but they are also very good at holding them in if they are uncomfortable. She will probably need a couple of days to get used to her new surroundings and being alone before she drops them. Turn up the temperature of your tank to 82.

Doing fine there. Maybe add some hydrilla, or a bushy-ferny type aquatic grass. Gives the fry a hiding place.

ya the fry need place to hide.. my guppies always get birth during night time, or dawn.. i don know is it their time or it is my guppies favourate timing :-P

see the guppies hole there, if got black dot there, means she is going to delivery within few days. if the black dot become very big, its means its going to delivery anytime ~~!! and congratulation ~~!
