I prepare and treat the water leave it to stand for at least 24hrs, then take 10% out and clean the filter sponge etc but after about 5 to 6 days its clouding up again surely I don't need to change the water so frequently. My tank is an Aqua 40 with a pump and filter that sticks to the side of the tank if that helps. Just done a water change and tank looks crystal clear but for how long?

I was in petco one day when I saw the poor little bettas. I felt bad and bought a blue and red shiny one plus a one gallon tank with a filter. I have had him for about four days and he is very active and happy. Yet I have noticed that his back fin is very short and strangly at the end. He was like this when I bought him so didn't think much of it. Then I started reading about fin rot and got worried.

I don't know if he has fin rot or if he was in a fight and is recovering. His fins dont have darker edges, his bottom fin is fine, yet his back fin is short and rigid at the edge. If I treat him for fin rot will it harm him if he is indeed recovering from a past experience? And is there a sure way to tell if he indeed has fin rot?

My gold fish sits at the top of of the water in the tank...and sits still. When I go over to the tank he then swims around. I have checked the ammonia levels in the tank and they are normal and he eats fine.

my guppy just gave birth to about 10 babies. Do they need a lot of room? When can they start reproducing and can they reproduce among themselves even though they are related? And shouldn't the guppy have given birth to about 50 babies...not just 10? (i know for a fact that she does not have any more in her)

My guppy is pregnant and look as if she's about to burst! She is in a smaller tank with a heater, gravel and plants. I was sure she would give birth yesterday night but she didn't. She is swimming up down, up down and all around! She's not even interested in live food! Is she about to give birth? I raised the temperature one C higher because I heard that it would help her give birth...

I have a really nice fish tank with a filter light and everything. Although when i was out of town i had someone watch my fish for me. They over fed them a little and now there are lots of fish food pebbles on the bottom of the tank. They tell you not to empty the whole tank when you ahve a filter. But i am afraid of the food making the water foggy and full of amonia? Any ideas if I should empty the whole tank and put new rocks in.

I have a male betta fish and got a female to breed them. Although the male is a little older how long do you think i should wait until they will start to breed. Also do they need to have a place where they can hide or shelter to breed?

I am babysitting the neighbors fish and now he has a white fuzz next to his gills and is more lethargic and hanging out a lot on the bottom. He does not appear to have the white spots described online as "ick??" Help, the little boy comes home in 3 days and I need this fish to live! The white fuzz just "fell off." but he is still slow.
I changed the water in his tank to try to help.
