Ballon molly are in theory okay in 68-82°F if the temp changes are slow. The main issue is goldfish are very dirty fish, and produce an a lot of ammonia. Generally goldfish should be kept about one per 10 gallons. Of you can keep them in small containers if you do regular changes as goldfish are pretty hardy. Mollys on the other hand can't take high amounts of ammonia, and nitrates.

Don't put them in with goldfish. JUST DONT. Sorry... I've tried something similar but it just didnt work out. I put a loach in with my goldfish, which is something that experts say can be done. It wouldnt eat and it died. I also think it gave my fish ich. You would need to warm up the tank with a heater, and goldfish live better lives longer in cooler tanks. They don't need a heater. If you want mollies, which are very pretty fish, you'll need a whole new set up. Unfortunately, goldfish don't do well with other fish types because they simply require different care... Mollies are pretty easy to care for, and tank set up is relatively inexpensive. Ten gallon tank set ups can be bought for less than $30 at the local pet store. The filter that comes in these set ups are usually pretty cheap and your better off getting a new one (Whisper Power Filters are great). You may be okay with the one that comes in the pack, I needed a new one cause goldfish poop a lot, lol. And you'll need a heater. Ask at your petstore, someone should help you make a good purchase. They like a temperature between 70 and 80 degrees F. Mid to Upper 70's is best. Good Luck! Oh and please dont try to put them in which the goldfish, you'll just upset yourself.

*Instead of mollies, MALE guppies are really pretty too. Be sure to get only males, if you mix females in there will be lots of babies. Pet stores should have them separated.

Yes sorry but mollies need a heater, as do most all freshwater fish. The only other type of fish other than gold fish that could survive without a regulated temp is a betta.

Mollies have the ability to adapt to a variety of salt levels and temperatures in the aquarium. With a gradual acclimation, these fish may be maintained in either a freshwater aquarium or a saltwater aquarium. They can be kept in a tank with temperatures ranging from 68-82°F

sometimes the 10cents goldfish carry diseases. Molly's usually DO need a heater. Petstore workers area little... dumb sometimes...with the occasional fish junkie who knows EVERYTHING about them. There temperature should be 70-85 degrees. ph=7.2-8.3. They LOVE live plants like java moss, and water sprite(all taks should have it). They like frozen brine shrimp, dry foods, and algae. One tablespoon of salt per gallon should be used to keep them healthy.
