I read Mandarin Fish fight with their own species but I do not know if this means Green Mandarins will only fight with other Green Mandarins or if they will fight with any other type of fish such as the Spotted Mandarin.

I would love to have both in my tank. Is this possible? If so what is the minimum tank size to house one of each?

Please feel free to reference any type of website that has information about Mandarin Fish.

Thank you!!!

How big is your tank? I have been working at a pet store for the past 10 years and have a 75 gallon reef tank for the past 5 years and a 10 gallon seahorse for a year. If the tank is big enough and i mean 55 or bigger than a green spotted mandarin will be ok with a psychodelic mandarin. I would also recommend adding the two fish at the same time. If you can tell the sex of the fish that would help out alot too. If the tank is smaller than a 55 then I think you will have a problem keeping them from fighting. Also make sure that your tank has been setup for a least a good year because most mandarins won't take prepared foods and will eat from the live rock and live sand in your tank. If you feed mysis shrimp that would be the best prepared food to try or cyclopees.

The same is said for firefish, but I have one purple and one common (red) and they don't fight.
To be on the safe side, I would suggest buying a male of one type and a female of another type. It isn't hard to tell, look at the length of their upper fins.
I had some success getting my mandarin to eat frozen food, I have a FOWLR tank and I turn off the pump while feeding the tank to feed the horseshoe crab. The brine shrimp would fall onto the rock, and the dragonett will eat the small ones. You can also purchase live cultures of copepods to feed them.

specific, clownfish can stay with mandarin gobies. in spite of the undeniable fact that, to maintain mandarin gobies effectively, you p.c.. an relatively super and mature tank with a astounding sort of stay rock, and ideally a refugium with extra stay rock as suited. during using a mature tank, I mean one that has been up and dealing for no less than 2 years. the reason you p.c.. all it is that the mandarin gobies' necessary nutrition is copepods and various tiny animals that stay indoors the stay rock. they do no longer do suited on any of the favourite fish nutrients, in the event that they are going to consume them in any comprehend. particularly some the mandarin gobies human beings purchase starve to loss of life, as a results of certainty they good now consume each and every and all of the nutrition organisms they arrive across indoors the tank, and then they waste away. it is thoroughly unhappy.
