We live in California and are in Utah for Christmas. We have been gone since the 21 and made sure our dog was well taken care of, indoors, comfortable, plenty of food and water, before leaving.
Originally we had scheduled a dog sitter, but they aren't returning our phone calls and my husband is literally freaking out, planning to get a flight home tomorrow (Christmas Day) becuase he's so worried about our dog.
Will she be allright for a few more days? We have left her before in the past for 2, then 3, and on one vacation, even almost 5 days, and she was completely fine.
I'm worried and don't know if we should arrange a flight home or not. We love our dog!

...until you prove you have spay/neutered the dog as per contract?

My BF and I have never bought a dog from a breeder before. We have the search narrowed down to two breeders, both require their pups to be altered, but one has said that papers will be given to us only after the dog is altered (the only breeder we look into to have this stipulation in fact, and we looked seriously at 6 kennels). We are trying to make a final choice of breeders since both have planned breedings in the next few months. I have been warned though by people not to buy from someone who holds the papers (may not really be reg'd), and wanted to know if it was normal when buying a pet quality puppy to hold them or not? Trying to make sure we don't get fooled after so much time and effort finding a great breeder for my BF's next dog. Just wondering if this is a normal practice and shows them to be a reputable breeder, or if it seems off to anyone?

My beagle just had puppies this morning. I put her & her puppies in a outdoor shed with a little portable heater.
But I wont be able to leave it on during the night. Will the difference make the puppies sick or anything?

ensured that before ANYONE could own a dog they had to undergo a basic education course that taught them about proper vet care, feeding, exercise, etc. for their dogs? Does anyone else get really depressed when reading some of the questions asked on YA? And also laws that made ANYONE who wants to breed their dog obtain a license. I know in CA they were working on something like that. But really. We need better laws to help shut down these back yard breeders and puppy mills!

what do YOU think it will take to really put a dent in the BYBs and PMs?

I have an 8 month old springer spaniel, and i know that that breed is naturally hyper, but she just won't listen. She is constently jumping up on the counters and trying to reach anything she can to chew up or eat. I have tried yelling "NO!" and clapping my hands, i have sprayed her with water (but she likes that), and i have even tried putting tape on the counters so when she would jump up it would stick to her paws, which didn't work (she liked that too, lol). She will usually get down when i yell at her but then she just goes and does it again. She also jumps up on people when they come over. How do i stop her from doing this??? please help i'm getting really fed up!!!

I left it lying on the coffee table, and he ate it! He's a St.Bernard/Lab mix, and I don't know if he swallowed it or what, but he's just lying there right now. I'm not sure if he's sick or not... he seems normal for the most part. Our vet's office is closed for Christmas... what do I do? Is it dangerous?? Help!

I have called a number of vets and have heard different things. Two say they are extremely contagious and I have to bleach my whole house. Three say tapeworms are only transmitted through fleas so I should treat all animals for fleas and tapeworms. Another vet said they are usually only transmitted through flea bites but if my cat (who now has tapeworms too) ate one of the worms then she could have gotten it that way. I just don't know what the best treatment is. The new puppy I adopted had tapeworms but none of my animals appear to have any fleas. Wouldn't you see fleas around ears and belly if the animals had them? Please help me figure out how to prevent the rest of the family from getting sick and how to get rid of the tapeworms permanently.

I have always had two pets. My younger dog Buddy is very social and is grieving the loss of his older sister. I am grieving her as well...she was 15 but for health reasons, I had to put her down 2 wks ago. I love dogs and I know I will want another one at some point. How do you know when it is the right time to get another dog? It's a very big commitment and one I don't take lightly, but I know I have a lot of love to give another dog and I know Buddy would be less lonely if he had a companion. Thank you for all answers. Merry Christmas!

I have a smaller sized cocker spaniel. She is 19 lbs and measures from the neck to the base of tail 18 inches. Is she small enough to put in a carrier under the seat in the cabin of a plane and if so what size carrier would be right for her size?

My Neighbor lets their dog poop on the sidewalk . We are in a 3 family house. I don't want to confront them and the landlord was told by the former tenants. Is there a way to stop a dog from going in that area?

Are you aware of what goes on behind the pet shop scene? Breeders seem alright to me... I don't know what to think about them.
I refused to get my dog from a breeder/shop, I got mine from the pound. He's already trained, and much cheaper!

I'm sick of that dog! I'ts bad enough it sleeps in the house. It never stops barking. I bought it a shock-collar, so it stops barking.

Why won't my sister let me use it with the dog?

He's a one year old yellow lab. We put him in a cage and put something underneath the cage so it doesn't make much noise when he moves around. When we return from home he makes a hole or scratches the paint off the floor in the garage.

I've been trying to train my dog, and it hasn't been successful. As she learns the command "down," she thinks that laying down will earn her a treat. I try teaching her other things, but "down" is what she always does!
