Good enough, shock collars usually are not all that bad, they're particularly best for training. But what you are announcing this guy is doing is fairly unhealthy. This sounds like animal abuse colossal time. If the canine already has a trainer, then the person will have to let the teacher train the dog. Non-professionals should not try and instruct puppies without suitable instruction. Also, the rocks won't hurt the dog. They'll simply dull the teeth a bit of. And if the dog is looking to chunk on rocks, then they must both feed the canine, or supply it a suitable chunk toy. If the wife is worried in regards to the canine then attempt to talk her into letting you support. You and her can work out some agreement at the back of the husbands back where that you would be able to let the puppies out to relieve some power. Being caged up will not be quite torture for a dog, but that is provided that the canine is not hyper-lively. A very full of life dog wishes to be walked, or ran around a park or somewhere with plenty of space. That you may get a kind of chuck it matters where it throws the ball very long distances. If the wife does now not agree to a few means of you helping, and the concern gets worse, i might recommend calling the authorities. Excellent luck, and take a look at to stay calm and confident.

Did you buy a collar intended for extra small dogs? How about you learn how to teach the dog to stop barking and take the collar back. Think of the collar as a bandaid. Take it off... and the dog starts barking again.

Most people think that shock collars are good, but they really aren't. Just because they train your dog to stay in the yard, doesnt mean they aren't painful...THEY ARE! So I would stop trying because she obviously doesn't want a cute little dog like a yorkie to get hurt! Many people use shock collars, but some peoples' dogs still aren't trained, so they get shocked when it's not even their fault! And it's not your dog's fault it's barking...using a shock collar won't do anything! It might just be scarde or uncomfortable. If it's really annoying you, I would just tell your sister to let it sleep in her room. But whatever you do...DON'T USE A SHOCK COLLAR!!!!!

I have to agree that the shock collar can be effective if used properly but you don't seem to be a candidate for such a training tool.
Sounds as if you could use the collar for an attitude adjustment on yourself.
What's this about not liking the dog sleeping in the house. Your able to sleep in the house and I think the dog is better suited for the house. Personally I would let it sleep in the bed with me.

Because shock collars are a great tool if they're used by the right people, and you don't seem like a good candidate. Why not give your sister the number of a good dog trainer in your area instead?

Such a tiny dog! WHY would you even want to put something hurtful on the dog! TRAIN IT!! Train it to only bark when it needs to. Have you tried exercising her? She probably has tons of energy thus she barks. If i was your sister i would be finding a place where there weren't people who dislike dogs, and believe in shock callors.

BECAUSE... it is wrong and with over use could cause damage to the dog.'
You could always consider debarking surgery, where they go in and slice the tissue that allows her to bark so she won't bark anymore it will sound like a really low bark. These websites talk about what they do...
http://www.placervillevet.com/barking.ht...
http://www.idausa.org/facts/cossurgery.h...
I myself would never do this, but in your situation it may be the only choice. I would only try this after trying all the rest of the training tips in the websites below.
Have your sister try to teach the dog not to bark. These websites give some good advice of why the dog may be barking, ways to try to stop the barking, and what you may be doing wrong:
http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?...
http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content...
http://www.maximumdogtraining.com/?tk=db...
I would encourage your sister to ty some of these things.
Best of luck :)

Because, you simply want to cause the dog pain.
SHock collars are a last ditch training effort, not a first jump when the dog annoys you.
It sounds like a power struggle between you and your sister.
Ignore the dog or pay for training for it.

Well.. it's your sister's dog, it's her decision. Why don't you find some other techniques to help to teach the dog not to bark. OR you could try to befriend the dog and maybe it wouldn't bark at you so much.
