I was just wondering if pig food can harm dogs. Pig food is cheaper so is it okay to feed it to my dog or no?

I found a lost dog. He was very dirty and matted. He was frightened and tired. I took him in and groomed him, treated him for fleas, fed him. All he wants to do is sit in my lap all the time. He's very sweet but VERY submissive and timid.

This woman called and claimed he was hers. She said he'd only been gone a couple of days but I had had him for 4 days. She said she wanted him back because she paid $500.00 for vet care for a whole year. Another woman called and said she had found this woman's dog wandering the streets before and the woman didn't even know he was missing. She leaves him outside all the time no matter what the weather.

I think this dog has been neglected and possibly abused. Do I have to give the dog back?

What do you think of the proposed legislation in California that would require all pet owners, both dog and cat, to fix their animals by the age of 5 months or face a $500 fine? (there would be an exception for breeders, shelters and show dogs)

At first I thought, what a great idea. But the more I think of it, the more I can see flaws in such an absolute solution. Would it basically mean the extinction of "mutts". Or maybe a doggy "black market". LOL But seriously, while I am all for spaying and neutering you animals (I think any responsible pet owner should), I'm not sure mandated pet altering is a good thing. It's not going to stop the inconsiderate, irresponsible s.o.b.s whould let their animals run all over the city breeding like rabbits. And who exactly is going to enforce this new law? The pet police? Is your family vet going to be required to turn in offenders? How is this supposed to work exactly?

I can see some major holes in this plan. What do you think?

Does higher red marks mean the dog's of a better breed?

My 3 year old lab growls and snaps at every one in the house. He doesn't like to begiving any commands and when he urinates in the house and we have him smell it and put him outside he starts growling and shaking. Today my son went to give a bath and he bit him on the arm.

People tend to blame/judge dogs on their bad temperament when they ''attack'' kids and many unfortunate animals have been put to sleep as a result. But i sometimes feel that kids can be an unwitting tease or push the dog too far.I had a six year old nephew who pinned my lab's head down with his foot to stop her from getting to something. He got punished for it of course, but i could not help thinking that if it was my bit more dominant Great Dane(who's passed on now),things might have turned ugly.
Anyway,i think kids shd be taught to respect animals.

My family just got a 4 month old Australian Labradoodle puppy, and I need some help with potty training. He is already crate trained, so please don't simply say "crate train him". We take him out as often as possible, but most of the time he just sits there and stares at us. When he pees in the house, he does it while he is running or walking, so you don't realize he is peeing until you see a trail of pee. Be specific in your answers and only serious answers please! Thanks alot!

My little rescue Chihuahua wont stop scratching. He is soo itchy. We take him to the vets every 3 weeks, but to no avail. It is over and hour drive, with crazy hours, and first come first serve. And it is doing nothing for his itch. He is losing fur on his tail and legs. It isn't flea's he has top of the line bug protection. We wash his bedding every week, and give him baths at least once a week. He was and is eating a good food, first Nutro, now Iams. We are washing him with baby shampoo. We tried a viniger rinse jag, which did nothing. He is scratching 24/7 (quite litterally),and rubbing, and clawing himself raw. Why on earth is he itching and how can I stop it? Opinions, product reccomendations, and home remedies would be a huge a help. Thanks!
