I had my 2yr.old Golden for about 3 months. He was given as a present to me by my boyfriend. His previous owner didn't want to give him away until she found his papers but my bf persuaded her. She says she's still looking for them. Now I'm wondering can I just get him a new license, shots, and neutered? I thought about breeding him because he's a perfect, healthy Golden but the idea quickly went away when I watch Animal Planet and see all those unwanted puppies! It is litterally heart breaking and I'm not contributing to that! Also, I'm on a fixed income so I would like to know of a place that could do this in central New Jersey for not too much money. Also, I'm a little worried that the place will take my dog away if they see that I got him with no papers. Can they do that? All answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Ok this question is kind of nasty so pls dont read on if you have a weak stomach... My dog always goes out in the morning and has a poo, this is fine, he then goes out for a 2nd one which is almost always loose, why is this? His 1st is never loose. He is a 5 month old Border Collie and is on a complete working dog food which he has been on for 4 weeks, this happened before we put him on this food, while he was still on puppy food. There is no sign of blood, he is fully vaccinated and wormed up to date, he is fine in himself but I clean up after him and it isn't pleasant!

She is slightly overweight, maybe 3 or 4 pounds. I give her premium dry dog food and have tried several different brands. She's somewhat active for her age, but this gas problem which comes mainly at night is about to get her banded from the bed. She gets very little people foods.

Please give me one logical reason, not media hyped, for why you think "Pit Bulls" should be banned.

Especially when many humane societies recommend "pit bull" type dogs as family pets because of their stable temperament, high pain tolerance, and desire to please people.

And I don't want none of that "I know someone that was attacked" BS. I want logic. Not Hype. Or a solitary personal situation. I talking as the breed as a whole, not an individual dog.

he is now on medication which is Phenobarbitone 1 1/2 tablets twice a day could you let me now if i can breed him as i have been told by vet that i can't but it would be a shame if he couldn't get his leg over as he is gorgous.

Our little Pomie is 6 years old. She seems okay generally, although she prefers to hide in our closet rather than be with us most of the time.

Every once in awhile she cries out in pain for no aparent reason. Loud yelps, like she is having a very sharp pain. Sometimes one yelp, sometimes several in a row. This happens about 1-2 times/week. It's heartbreaking because we don't know why she is in pain or how to help her.

We have had her to the vet, but he can find nothing wrong. He's touched her all over and she shows no particular sensitivity to touch. The vet checked her for fleas or ticks, and can't find anything. Her bathroom habits seem to be normal. We can't find any reason for her to cry out like that.

Like I said, it is heartbreaking. We don't know how to help her, and neither does the vet since he can't find a problem.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Can you give us some suggestions as to what might be wrong, or how to help her?

Thanks so much

We' ve recently torn down our old fence and replaced it with a new redwood fence. Several days ago, our male dog began "coughing", which sounded like he was trying to cough up a furball. Doing research tonight on the internet, it appears that this could be kennel cough caused by excess dust. My husband and I read that along with antibiotics, they often give cough medicine. Does anyone know the type? Is it in liquid or pill form?

I'm planning on getting a dog, and EVERYONE says ..." adopt from a rescue, don't go to a breeder." and all the rescue sites say " rescue a dog, and don't buy from a breeder."

Well, I apply over and over and they say I'm not suitable!

Sure, I have a 2 story 1100 sq foot town home and I make enough to support a dog, and I don't have children but... becasue I'm under 25 and I rent- I'm a "risk."

okay okay, I GET that they want the dog to have a stable home. but If i havent moved in 4 years or changed jobs and I'm not planning on it- doesnt that show stability?

isnt it hhypocritical to tell people to adopt and not buy and then decline them?!

I've gone to shelters and they only have really large dogs.

I guess i'm just going have to buy a dog.
