You need to make sure your dog knows it is going out to potty- not to play. Take it out, give it a few minutes, and if it doesn't go, then bring it back inside. It'll take patience, but it needs to be done.
Also, you need to pick a word or phrase and use it, when you take it out, and while it's doing it's business. Afterwards, praise and reward.
My last bit of advice is to use vinegar water on the places in the house. Dogs do not like vinegar. If you catch the dog making a mess, spray vinegar water at it while saying "No!" (Make sure you're not spraying it in the eyes, just spraying so it will smell the vinegar). Then clean the spots and spray them with vinegar water.
Our dog is trained to ring a bell on a string attached to the door when she has to go out. We did this by first ringing the bell when we took her out, then using her paw to ring the bell, and then having her ring the bell prior to going out. Eventually she just associated the ringing bell with her needs. It took about a week and a half, but we rarely ever see accidents. :)
Hope this helps

When you catch your dog in the act of using the bathroom yell no really loud to let him know that is not acceptable. Stay outside until the pup goes. I take my dogs out 20-30 minutes after they eat and I stay outside until they pee. Treats only bribe the dog so when your pup goes potty outside praise him and if he goes in the house and you catch him in the act scold him with a loud NO. Keep your dog on a set schedule so he'll get use to every time I eat or drink I have to go out in about 20 minutes

Some of the best advice ever given to help house train a dog is to crate train. If your dog is young you can get her used to a crate very easily. Feed her in her crate, give her toys in her crate so she has to go in it to retrieve them, and put treats in her crate. At first let her come in and out with the door open and once she is used to that you can begin shutting the door for short periods of time.
You also have to be consistent in taking her out. Not just after she eats and drinks water. Puppies have to potty aftery they play, immediately upon waking from a nap, after eating. Basically puppies have to potty all the time. It is best to confine your puppy in her crate when you can not keep an eye on her. If you take her outside and she does not potty bring her back in and put her in her crate. Take her back out a while later. If she goes this time praise praise praise and then when back inside let her run around the house for a little while as long as you are keeping an eye on her. Make sure to bring her out to potty again before putting her back in her crate and always praise her when she goes potty.
Also leaving her in a crate at night time will encourage her to hold it through the night and you are sure to have her pee first thing when you take her out. Make sure the crate is not too big for her or she will just pee or poo in a corner far away from where she sleeps and still sleep in it. If the crate is the correct size she will not go potty in her crate unless she really really has to go.

first off if she is new to the household you should introduce her to the rest of the house a Little bit at a time, second there may be something outside like the smell of a not so friendly animal that makes ur dog too unnerved to go out side, third if all else fails, try doggy diapers for a while, or try taking her dropings and placing them out side where it is acceptable for ur dog to go, so she gets the idea its business is ok out side not inside.

its hard to do, but, try feeding your dog, take her outside to go potty, encourage her to do so, when your done (regardless of whether or not she has gone) put her in a kennel as soon as you walk back inside. wait a little while, then take her outside to go potty again. she will probably go this time. but when you take her back in, put her back in her kennel. i know its hard to do this, but do for a few days or a week until the dog is house trained. also continue to give her a treat when she goes poddy outside, anything to positive reinforce the desired habit. the dog wont piss where she sleeps, thats why you need to let her spend a few days in the kennel, to understand that your home is her "doghouse" and that you dont go inside.
good luck!
(p.s. i tried everything to housebreak my dog, my sister told me to do this, she's a dog trainer, and it worked in a few days, 5 years later my dog dont go inside for last 4 years)

Change religion.
Seriously though...as soon as you see her do it pick her up and run outside and put her exactly where you want her to do it and give lots and lots of praise while she does her business outside. It will take a bit of patience but eventually with a lot of praise and treats she will learn. The trick is catching her the moment she starts.

Walk your dog around the yard. Walking encourages them to pee. Also take her to the same spot every time (plus you don't ruin the entire lawn)
