If you are asking at what age your female dog will have her first heat cycle I do not have a specific answer for you. All dogs are different as far as that goes. Some females will have their first heat at 6 months old others will not have their first heat until almost 2 years old. It depends on the dog and also it depends alot on genetics.

How old were the female dogs in her pedigree when they first had their heat cycles? If you purchased your dog from a breeder they will be able to tell you.

Some signs that your dog is coming into heat....her vulva will begin to swell and enlarge. Once her vulva has enlarged she will start bleeding from her vulva. You can check to see if this has happened by taking a paper towel and gently wiping her vulva with it once a day to check for color.

It is very important that when your dog is in heat you keep her away from any male dogs so you do not have unwanted puppies around. I also HIGHLY recommend spaying your dog. It has a great many health benefits including reducing the risk of mammary and uterine cancers.

First heats start any where from 6 months and some dogs are over a year old before they have one.
The heat will last three weeks each time.
After that she will have one about every six months but some dogs go nine months in between.
Each heat she has increases her risk of cancer and of having a pyometra (uterine infection) that can be deadly if not caught in time.
Have her spayed for her health and your conveinence

Hi it will last at least 3 weeks & the most critical time will be from the 11th day when she will be ready to mate...take extra care at this time & make sure she does NOT get mated at this age as she is not finished developing herself at this point in time...Regards Jake
