Help! I bought a Shepherd mix puppy at 4 weeks old, and she was the sweetest thing until about 3 months later. She get undivided love and care, and she is spoiled rotton. She has never barked, growled, bit, or snapped at anyone who lives in my house. But, when I am walking her or if someone is coming into our house, she acts like they have a gun aimed at me. She barks and growls and tries to bite them. She is sooo sweet with us though. She is not rewarded for this behavior, and if often punished, but she doesn't seem to connect. Most of my friends are afraid to come over because of her. How can I stop this behaviour?

I'm not sure if I mis-heard my vet but I think she told me heartworm medication helps get rid of other worms that could develop. Is this true?

I like silly pet names and I really adore the name HodgePodge. Can you suggest any other off the wall names?

*** Just FYI: I don't have a dog just yet and haven't yet settled on a particular breed. But I probably will by January. ***

I have two yorkie terriers that were crate trained with wee wee pads, they were doing good for a while, and now it seems whenever they have some playtime outside of the confined area they poo all over the place. They go on the pads as well, but they just dont get the fact that its the ONLY place they go. I watch them carefully when they are out, and catch them in the act and tell them a stern NO AND BRING them to the pad. Seems its a way of acting out or something? Now they are confined in the kitchen with a baby gate up most of the time and i hate it! I wish they could just learn its the "only place to go" One is 6 months, and the other is 8 months. (both 6lbs) please help! I have a baby that will be crawling in the next 2 months or so and i need to change things. ive tried the sprays the crate the 3 times a day feeding, running out of options.

My elderly Dog is on a lot of medication for a heart condition. last week when he had his cheek-up with the vet, I told her of the problems that I am having getting his medication into him. Most of the tablets I could give wrapped in corned beef, but one has to be on an empty stomach. she told me of (and sold me) a new product that has a very low absorbtion, it has been produced to assist Dog owners give medication to their Dogs. you just mould the treat around the pill. Its called Vivi Treat and made by Intervet UK Ltd.My Dog loves them and would eat only them if I allowed him to. I don't know if this is availble world wide but its certenly worth a try if you like me have problem giving medication to your Dog. I do hope they bring a Cat version out soon.

Our chihuahua was spayed when her pups were 3 hours old which is basically a total hysterectomy, so if she doesn't have her female hormones how can she continue to produce milk?

It doesnt matter what it is. pencils pens markers toilet paper toys etc... She is a toy fox terrier and is two years old. She constantly has to have somthing in her mouth to chew on and what ever gets chewed into bits gets swallowed. One of these days im afraid that something is going to get stuck in her intestinal tract. Ive found balloons and rubber ball bits and toy stuffings and rubber gloves on the front lawn during potty time.WHAT can i do to stop her from doing this? Ive tried raw hide, she just eats it and vomits it up later. she also chews on furniture but at least that isnt as bad as it was. ive caught her with tacts in her mouth. Shes like a 6 month old child or a goat. any advice to solve this problem???

She weighs approx. 54 pounds. I have talked to my vet about her weight and he feels she looks good for her activity level...But, I think she still needs weight. Her hair coat is beautiful, she is growing and muscling out good, and you can't see any bones (you can slightly see her ribs)...But, she is not as good as she could be. I feed her Hundchen Flocken Puppy (Solid Gold) both wet and dry; this is the only food she will eat (she is a very picky eater). She will only eat approx. 3-5 cups of dry and 1 can of wet a day; mixed and split between 2 meals. I leave a bowl of dry out all the time. She is outside all day on the farm with me and comes in at night.

Any ideas?
