I like silly pet names and I really adore the name HodgePodge. Can you suggest any other off the wall names?
*** Just FYI: I don't have a dog just yet and haven't yet settled on a particular breed. But I probably will by January. ***

Haha. I knew there'd be someone preaching about the impossibilities of naming a dog before you actually get it. Well, ummm. People pick baby names waaay before the child is ever born and nobody says boo about that (see where I'm going with this?) But anyway, I'm simply asking for suggestions. Geesh! It's just Yahoo Answers... quit being so serious (rolls eyes and laughs).

How can you decide on a name when you do not have a dog or even know what kind of a dog you are going to get yet? The name should be appropriate to the particular dog. This is a little simplistic, but, for example, i knew a guy who had a brown dog named "brown dog". Likewise, you would not name a yorkie "Tiny" but you might name it "Goliath" to be a little humerous, etc. You get the idea. YOU GOT TO GET THE DOG, THEN THE NAME.

Well I have two english bulldogs. Popcorn and Merle. Merle looked like MERLE Haggard, and Popcorn has a kernel shape on her side. Some of the best names come from just looking at them!

It really depends on the dog's personality, and your personal tastes.
However, HodgePodge is a cute name. But what would it be for short? Hodge? Podge? Ho? :]

My favorites are Nosmo King, .com (dot com), Hawkeye (yes, after Hawkeye Pierce), and Fuzzhead- I work at an animal hospital, and yes, these are all real animal's names.
Just please, please, please, not Princess, Prince, or King. There are way too many of each.
Really, it depends on the animal as well. I adopted from a shelter, so my cat came with a name- that's a possibility as well. If you haven't considered adopting from a shelter, please do- there are many loving animals that need homes.
