My wife and I and thinking of getting a dog. I want to name the dog 'photon' because I am hoping to get an agile dog. And if the dog isn't agile, it'll be an inside joke I guess.

Looking for some viewpoints on uncommon names for pet dogs.

I have a brand new 8 week old male Toy australian shepherd ( for those of you who think this isnt a breed, check out tasaa.org). He has wonderful bloodlines & I will be showing him as well as putting him into some kind of a working show. I was wondering if around 2 years old is the correct age to start studding him out? and also how hard is it to breed? My beagle had pups not too long ago(accidental pregnancy w/ a golden retriever), but they all died. The vet said they were premature, but it has been hard on me and has put a damper on my wanting to breed. Please give me any information you can on studding out dogs, & eventually breeding. Thanks.

I lost my bestfriend, my baby just over a month ago and I'm wondering how long does it take for the pain to subside? How long does it take for raths grasp on your heart to let go? It hasn't been letting go of mine, well only a very little bit maybe.
I just miss him so much, my dog was in our family since before I was born. He got put to sleep at the age of 16 1/2 years old. All I want to do is to be able to hug him and kiss him and smell his beautiful smell again. He was the best dog in the world, he was my baby my bestfriend. I love him so much that if I ever had to chose between a human friend and my dog I would chose him in a instant.

So any suggestons on how to help get over the pain?
Thanks!

Bella, my puppy, is part German Shephard and part Golden Retriever and currently 5 months old. She constantly bites and jumps up on anyone and anything. I've had her since she was 2 months old and it's been the same thing. I have chew toys for her, but she continues to chew my feet, my clothes, my furniture, and everything else. Are there any tips on how to get her to stop? I've tried a forceful tone, turning my back to her, ignoring her, but nothing works.

I moved into Texas a few months ago.As soon as we started to check out our new house and property along came a cat and dog. These 2 animals was overly friendly. We gave them no attention.Well after 3 weeks of living here I found out these animals belong to the people behind us.I would not feed the dog which looking at his teeth at that time he had to be like 4 1/2months old because he had his adult teeth except his canines. The problem is this dog refuses to go home and so does the cat.The cat is no problem but the dog keeps digging my puppies out of the pen, digging holes all over property, barking all night, starting to get aggresive with my cats, playing rough with my 23 month old, taking stuff out of everyones yards and chewing stuff up on my property, chasing and barking at moving cars and starting to bark and growl at people walking by.People has confronted me about this dog.The owner wont take no responsibility nor will she give us the dog so I can tie it up.Should I take it to the pound

Hi, I have a new puppy, and I take her outside about every hour to go to the bathroom. Half the time, she's great. She does her business, and I tell her good girl and all that stuff. The other times, however, she just runs around and refuses to go potty. So I let her in, and she goes all over the house! She knows she's doing wrong, because she tries to hide from me when she does it. I really don't know what to do. I also can't just leave her in the backyard because she will dig up all the grass/mud.

She is 5 months old, and we just got her from a friend who didn't take good care of her. He also didn't potty train her. It seems like it is soooo much harder to do at 5 months of age.

Any suggestions on what I can do to make this easier?

Thank you in advance!!!

I even got her a smaller crate which just gives her enough room to turn around and sleep in it. I dont keep her in it for more than 1-2hrs at a time, and before I put her in, I make sure to let her "relieve" herself first. Why is she doing this?

After Rita (my Boston Terrier) pees and/or dumps she kicks back on the ground in every direction (we're usually doing our walk together). She doesn't appear to be trying to cover up anything. My take is that she trying to spread her "markings" over a wider space of ground.

Do you think I'm correct about this? What's your take on this?

PS: I've already noted that I should stand back out of the way.

but that came from pet supplies plus...is it likely or unlikely that he could get intestinal parasites from this? I threw them out and cleaned the container, is there any over the counter meds to protect him just in case?

I let my cocker out the side door and I go with him, most of the time he will go right to the back yard [ there is no fence between the side door and back yard and we dont have a back door. I understand using a leash will prevent this, I want him trained not to run away, is there something I should do when he does take off, now, what I do is just go get him, bring him back telling him bad dog, then bring him back into the house. He does stop at the end of the block and waits for me to get close before he comes running back toward me., I don't want him thinking this is a game we are playing. What should I be doing to correct this? If I use a leash every time , will he learn after awhile? thanks for any input

We have a year old Yorkshire Terrier and lately he has been doing what all male dogs do. He likes to hump on everything. It is hard to explain to my little girl exactly what he is doing, because I am not ready to have a 1000 questions about it. I have just told her that he is rubbing his stomach on her or on whatever he is doing it on. Is there some way of breaking him of this? Would getting him fixed take care of this situation? I would appreciate any and all suggestions you may have.

My dog was intact and lived with another dog that was neutered and never showed signs of dominance. In fact, the neutered dog was dominant over him! He went to classes and was friends with all of the other dogs. I moved and my dog no longer lived with another dog he was still not neutered, within a month he barked and cried at other dogs when he saw them during our walks. He met a few dogs and barked, cried initially but when they smelled each other no longer barked when he saw them, instead was calm and would try to run and greet them. He is now neutered ( for 2 months) and cries (whines) instead of barks when he sees dogs. Is this dominance? Will his personality ever change? I'm not sure what to do any and all comments are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
