I met a couple of very viscious alsatians on Sunday and their owners seemed just as viscious and actually quite psychopathic. I actually ran an hid with my Lab. Why would people choose to own animals like that?

Tried a million things. Any suggestions? Used millions of different shampoos, cortisone shots, benadryl, and very little works. Now he's on prednisone because he had a horrible flair up yesturday and scratched his whole chest raw. I can't really change foods because he just started having to eat prescription food for bladder stones. Corisone shots seem to help for 2-3 weeks. Allergy testing is too expensive, and may not even help. He is up most of the night scratching...I rarely take him outside.

I've heard that baby shampoo can be a great and cheap alternative to dog shampoo...is this true?

I don't want to give him dry or itchy skin to save a few bucks?

Ive seen a few videos around the internet of dogs either with a raw hyde chew, a bowl of food, or whatever and then out of the blue they start snarling and biting at their own feet. are these cases of dogs actually being mentaly ill or overprotective or somthing else?

There also a video here: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=1306880799, that shows a dog biting at his foot. it looks like hes trying to itch. one of the comments was "when a dog has an itch, its a reflex that one of their foots start going. hence when you rub their belly, their foot will go". is that true with this particular dog??

Just because it isnt recongnized with the AKC doesnt mean they arent a breed. There are plenty of breeds that the AKC hasnt recognized because they are new or they havent been shown tons of interest here in the USA. & If people agree that the mini aussie is in fact a breed, why not the toy? I understand some people seem to think that you'd have to introduce smaller breeds with the mini to get a toy, but this isnt true for all toys. To me, that just shows irresponsible dog breeding. I guess my point is that no, I didn't "waste my money" on my toy aussie. Toy aussies do have an oraganization to be registered with, & are working hard to become part of the AKC. As far as for the people who think that I need to "get rid of" or "not even bother" breeding these wonderful little dogs, I'd say stop being ignorant & realize these dogs are a breed, and are not "mutts".

My pug has had a problem with sensitive skin for a few weeks now. We wash him about every 2 weeks and have even switched shampoo but it doesnt seem to help. He really seems to be itchy whenever we scratch him. and not just in one spot- everywhere. Is there any over-the-counter stuff that i can get? He doesnt have fleas or anything.

I have a 10 month old boxer mix that has been diognosed with demo mange. Nothing seems to work. We are giving him a peroxide bath and Mitaban dip once a week. The mange now covers 40% of his body. I really don't want to put him down. Anybody dealt with this? Any wisdom?
