Keep him in the house! He is coming out of his doghouse because he doesn't like it - he wants to be close to his family, he's thinking, "Hey where are you going, what about me?" The dog is a family pet which means it should be kept WITH THE FAMILY! You wouldn't leave your baby out in the rain... so don't leave your dog either. I couldn't ever leave my dog outside I would die! They need company and love, they won't get either outside.

A good tip is to also put his food and water dishes in there. Also he is playing you like some of mine have done; they WILL eventually go inside from the rain; he knows that he doesn't have to go in it because he knows you will let him in. Leave him out long enough & if he doesn't get the hang of it; go outside and physically place him in the house!

My neighbor has a chow and it NEVER uses its dog house. They try everything. It lays beside it at night but never goes in. When it rains, frosts, or snows, they bring it in the house but barks and scratches their door until they let it back out. It is a black dog and when we have frost, their he is, laying outside, covered in white frost, just happy as a lark.

Some dogs just don't like doghouses.

Have you tried putting treats in the house? Is the house big enough for him to actually feel comfortable? I know you put lots of nice stuff in there for him.

give him a tear and make a door on it so when he gets in you can close it untill he feels confortable with the dog house.

good luck!
